Excerise after baby - Walkers/Joggers enter

I was active prior to delivery (walking 2 miles every day).  I spotted once after running and switched to walking.  My little guy is 8 days old.  We have gone on 3 walks around the neighborhood.  I'm not ready for jogging yet and plan to call the doctor once I'm feeling 100% (probably before 6 week appointment).

How long did you wait after deliverining to starting jogging again?

I haven't started jogging again, but I plan to wait until my midwife gives me the okay. I see her once a week right now (she provides the first 6 weeks of PP care for my little man) so I figure she'll let me know when it's okay.

I'd rather not risk doing myself harm right now- I'm way too needed at this point.

  • I just started walking and hope to start jogging after about a month-6 weeks. I would like the ok from my OB.

  • I was walking 4-5 miles a day up until the day before I went in for my induction.  DS is 5 days old today and I'm planning to take him out for a couple mile walk.  The weather is amazing and I'm dying to get back outside!  I'm going to play it by ear, but probably won't start jogging again until 4 to 5 weeks. My first post delivery OB apptointment is 4 weeks post birth, I'm pretty sure I'll be given the go ahead at that point. :)
  • I'm a C mom, so I really can't do too much for a few more weeks.  But I have started walking short distances around the 'hood with the stroller. It's amazing how great I feel in the morning and then this afternoon I feel like poo.

Caught a look at myslef in the mirror yesterday... really want that pre p body back... :(

  • It's 95 degrees out and we have a treadmill, so I tried walking the other day on it.  LO is 3 weeks old and I think the Dr said to wait until 6 weeks before I exercise (I had a C/S), but I can't stand this extra weight :(

I did a really slow walk- not even panting but I thought I could try it since DD was sleeping.  I felt good doing it, but later that night, my internal incisions were sooo sore.  Guess I should have listened to the doctor!

  • I am two weeks pp and just started walking...will start jogging hopefully at 4 weeks.  Can't rush it but it feels good to exercise and sweat!
