Trouble TTC

temp drop

Woke up to a four degree temp drop this morning, and since last IUI I got AF at 12dpo after a day of temp drop, I decided not to bother testing today.

Sadly what seems to be upsetting me the most this morning is the money.  Being OOP, we will now have to take two or three months off to save for IUI number three.  At that point, I will be not only past my two year *anniversary* of TTC but on like cycle 30 of trying.  Yikes!  I wish my rich uncle would hear about our struggles and just offer to pay for IVF, but that's not how that side of the family rolls...he'd rather buy more homes and planes and golf vacations.

So I bought DH another 2 months of FB for men, and watched the video on 99 Reasons to Laugh at Fertility...turns out today is not a reason to laugh.  My comic relief didn't help me out.  Instead I just got my hourly reminder that IF sucks.

Re: temp drop

  • I'm sorry :( I understand how you are feeling though. We just came off of a 6 month break bc we had to save up for our first inject cycle. Our first cycle was a big mess too so we wasted nearly $900 as well on it. That was more depressing than having to cancel the cycle.  I hope your day gets better! Try to take this time to relax. I made a point not to bump the entire 6 months bc I knew it would drive me crazy! Good luck and I'm sorry once again.

  • I'm so sorry about the drop. ((hugs)) I wish IVF weren't so freakin' expensive. I'm terrified that we may get to a point where IVF or adoption is our only option, and neither I or DH are prepared to put that much money in to something that may not work. I think a lot of the stress of TTTC would be off if I had a rich relative to surprise me with about 20K. If the money were handed to us, we'd adopt in a heartbeat.

I hate IF. I'm sorry that you have to go through this and that you can't laugh at it today.

  • I'm so sorry.  I'm OOP too so I can relate.  Then main reason for our treatment break is to save money.  I actually considered trying to find a new job for better insurance.

After more than 2 years of fertility treatments, FET did the trick!
IVF March 2012 - BFP! - Severe OHSS = 8 days in the hospital in kidney failure
    No heartbeat at 10w6d
    FET August 27,2012 = BFP!

  • I'm sorry, Kati. The waiting and the OOP costs seriously suck! I'm with you on the 2 year mark... we past it in April and I was doing ok with it until tornado damage and now an upcoming lap / hysteroscopy are setting us back even more. I'll be lucky if we can even try by the end of summer.

We just have to keep our heads up and keep supporting each other. <3 If you ever need to talk, PM me or page me. I'm trying to be better about checking in more often.

Thanks ladies.  I have not even bothered to tell DH because he'ssuch an optimistic person I know he'll be like "But baby, you never know..." when after so long of the same thing - temp drop, day later AF - that I just can't hear the hope in his voice.  I can't bear it today.

So sorry to hear that Katie.  OOP totally sucks and it's depressing to think about the costs and especially the cost of IVF. I know you work at Target, not sure what you do there? But I know you said something about not going to work after having a baby. So you may condsider switching? Have you considered getting a job at Chase Bank?  They cover IF treatment ---INCLUDING IVF!!! And they give you 12 weeks of 100% paid maternity leave.  AMAZING!  I'm trying to get a job there now.  Only drawback is you have to be at the company for 1 year before they pay you 100% for the maternity leave. But, if you were planning of taking a break anyway?

You may even find a job in Marketing in your field?  Or start off low and work your way up later?  I don't work there yet. I am looking into getting a job there. Their corp headquarters is in Columbus and I know a lot of people that work there and say it's a great company.

Thanks lindz, but you've just hit on a sensitive subject!  I was in marketing/sales in television advertising for seven years but the stress of it the last year when the economy started to go down caused health issues for me.  So when I moved back to my hometown to marry MH, I quit sales.  I looked for three months to find a marketing (non sales) job and ended up taking a temp job doing administrative work for a year.  Then there were layoffs there and they said they couldn't keep the temps when they were letting go people that had worked there for ten years.  Spent another three months looking for job with no luck in very crappy economy and finally ended up 20 months ago taking the job at Target.  Seven months ago got promoted to assistant manager to the grocery side of the store so I kind of stopped looking for another job since I'm at least making over minimum wage now.  Target actually has decent IF insurance but you have to have an average of over 30 hours a week since the day you first started to get it.  While over a year I have worked 32 hours a week, the first several months they could only give me about 18 hours a week....so my "avg. hours" sat at 28 at Jan. 1 when I could sign up for their insurance. So I got screwed.

I had tried a few different times to get a job at Chase because they have a large office with over 3000 employees about 15 min. from my house that my BFF used to work at (before she got PG and became a SAHM).  Nothing came of it.  And while it's been over six months since I bothered sending out my resume, I may start up again simply for the help with IF...even if the insurance coverage isn't there, if I could make more money all that extra could go to pay for it since we've gotten used to living with my low income the last three years since I quit sales.  But I know I cannot go back to full commission sales, because my health is not worth compromising.

Wow, I've rambled alot on a post you'll probably not come back to.  Think I just wanted to get that off my chest.  But thanks again for thinking of an option for me.
