Found the math problem

I still only understand it if I'm reading it....

Sorry, still can't make it clicky on the Mac.

Re: Found the math problem

  • that's not saying it's not a 50/50 chance. That's talking about the likelihood of a predetermined outcome BASED on the fact that each one has a 50/50 chance on each coin flip. One coin=50/50 two coins each have a 50/50 chance of on their own, but collectively if you're asking if both will be heads, there are other variables, so it's not 50/50 in that instance. And so on for more coins.  does that make sense?

  • Also, I'm still fvcking bitter because I went to state with a science fair project on this in 8th grade (I wanted to see what would happen if I rolled a set of dice 1000 times). I studied all the applicable math stuff for HOURS to even learn how to properly phrase my hypothesis using the correct mathematical terms and formulas. When we got there, they wouldn't let us even be in the room while they judged. We all had to leave the room and the judges picked by looking at them alone. The only comment I got was a big fat "Disqualified, next time try doing your own work"
    I was furious.  Ugggh.

  • That sucks!

I won my 8th grade science fair by raising mice and running them through a changeable maze to find food. Woo-hooo. Life changing science there folks.

LOL. Who knows?  You may have cured cancer.

My 8th grade science fair project was to grow 3 plants - one would listen to classical music, one to rock, and one to...um, something else.  Original, I know.    Except I planted the plants & never played music.  They all grew the same.  To make it more interesting, I cut the tops off of them to make them 3 distinctly different sizes.  And I got an A.  Stick out tongue

omg, that is hilarious. I did the bread mold project wrong (you know, spray with water, put in a bag, bring it to school in 2 weeks and look at the all the gross) because I didn't pay attention. I sprayed the bread with a mister bottle, then just set it on top the dryer. No bag. Everyone had goopy bags of nasty, and I had a rock solid piece of crusty bread lol. I realized my mistake and threw it in a bag the morning of, and just kept shrugging and telling the teacher I had NO idea, maybe our house had low humidity? lol

  • I was going to come and explain, but I see it has already been done.

I was exempt from my 8th grade science fair because of my high grade, but my 7th grade project was whether or not electromagnetic fields given off by batteries (12v) changed the behavior of growing plants. It does. It stunts the growth.

Interesting. I would have thought it improved growth, if anything.
