How often do you give your LO a bath?

My doctor said about 2-3 times a week.  But what I've noticed is that my LO will sleep for 6-8 hours right after a bath. So it makes me want to give him one everyday. Just curious to see what everyone else does.

Re: How often do you give your LO a bath?

  • I do it more often than 2-3 times a week for sure.

DD #1 had really terrible reflux and smelled like puke at the end of every day, I gave her a bath every day. I just made sure to put lotion on a few times a day.

If DD#2 slept that long after a bath, I would def. give her one every day!

  • We give Noah a bath every other day. It's so hot and humid here, and he spits up at least once or twice a day, so he really needs one at least that often. I guess it averages out to about 3x/week.

  • If it's a good part of the bedtime routine and makes LO sleep longer, i'd do it every day!  Just use warm water some days so you're only using soap a few times a week. You can always cut back if you notice dry skin or anything..

  • DS was born 4 weeks early so since hes still so small and the weather here at night has been chilly I do about 3 times a week. I wish bath nights would make him sleep longer, I'm jealous! When he gets older I am sure I will move to every other night and then every night.

  • DD loves the water so we do it just about every day now. We use California Baby body wash and have never had an issue with dry skin.

  • As soon as his umbilical cord fell (two weeks) out, he started getting a bath everyday! It is part of his bedtime routine; he gets his bath, a bottle and then goes straight into his crib. Even when he is extremely fussy, the second he gets into the water he is calm. He loves his bath! :)

  • since her cord stump is still on it's a sponge bath every morning. When it falls off my guess is every other day. Possibly with sponge in between. Her skin doesn't seem at all sensitive though. If it gets that way we'll lay off a bit.
  • I give my LO a bath every other day.  On the off days I still wash his face, neck and bottom.  Just following what they told me to do at the hospital and peditrician's office.

  • Kieran gets a bath every other day. same days as Declan gets his :-)
  • Every other night it makes it easy for us to get on a routine at night.

  • We do it every 3 or 4 days. I lightly sponge bathe her everyday though. She has had dry skin so even though I use lotion a lot I don't want her skin to dry out too much.

  • I give LO a bath every two days. He doesn't sleep any longer when he get s a bath though. He has dry skin too since there is almost no humidity here, so I try to spread them out.
  • You can bathe daily but only use soap 2-3 times per week.

  • We do a sponge bath every other night since the cord hasn't fallen off. After the bath last night, Reese slept from roughly 10-3am. We do the bath right before her last feeding for the night. Once the cord falls off, I plan on bathing her every night.

Us too.  Once the cord fell off, LO began getting a bath every night as part of her bedtime routine: she gets a bath, DH or I will read to her, then a  bottle, then she goes into her crib.

LO loves bath time.  We use soap on her every other bath, lotion after every bath. Kinda like a baby massage.

  • Every night for this very reason.
  • Our boys get bathed every night before bed. It tuckers them out enough to sleep for about 4 hours and they sleep better after their late night feeding if they're bathed as well. I know they don't need it as far as staying clean goes, but we're happier parents when they sleep better.

  • Only about once a week at this point.  When he gets a little more alert it will be every night as part of his routine.  My family has really dry, sensitive skin so we usually put it off for a little while.  Currently we are just trying to get him to eat enough per day so that has been our biggest priority.  I don't want to do anything that will tire him out even more than he already is, we are trying to save all his energy for feeding.

  • Every other day. If she needs it more, then we do it more often. My 20 month old son gets one EVERY SINGLE DAY! He is at that age where he is always getting messy.
