I have a friend who has this whole other method of figuring out if you're having a boy or a girl (and thus which month to get KU if you want one or the other, which was her real goal.)
So: a woman's blood renews every 4 years and a man's every 3. Whomever's blood is strongest (most renewed) will determine if the baby will be a boy or a girl.
Example: I'm 32, but I'll be 33 when Natalie is born. DH is 50 but will be 51 when Natalie is born. So. I will only be one year into refreshing my blood (or 1/4 refreshed) but DH will be 3 years into refreshing his blood (or fully refreshed.) Since his blood will be "stronger" we should be having a boy, since he is a boy.
IDK where she came up with this, but it actually played out in all 5 of her pregnancies, so now she's telling me not to buy too much pink.

Re: s/o s/o Chinese Gender Chart
So based on her logic... I am 30, DH is 31.
What will that make this babe?
And I am trying to calculate for B - I was 28, DH was 29.
wtf
ETA: So when I got KU w/ DS, I was 24, DH was 26. Then when he was born I was 25 and DH was 27. Should he have been a girl?

BFP 1/18/11, EDD 10/1/11. Born at 37w5d on 9/15/11.

Ok - so with B, since I was 28 - my blood would have been fully refreshed? An DH, at 29 would be 2/3 refreshed. Thus making mine stronger.
Am I following this correctly?
Apparently our age when they are born, but somewhere the month of conception does come into it I just can't remember how.
And yeah, Pub, WTF.
N&G, let me do the math, Just a sec.
30 and 31 is how old you'll be when you deliver? You will be 1/2 way refreshed and he will be 1/3 refreshed so girl.
If you will turn 31 before the babe is born and he stays 31 - you will be 3/4 refreshed and still beat out your hubs.
If he turns 32 and you stay 30, you will be 1/2 way and he will be 2/3s so it would be a boy.
If you both get a year older before birth, you will be 3/4 refreshed and he will be 2/3 so again you get a girl.
Yup - so Girl, which was right for you.
And yeah everyone whose head hurts? That was mine when she was trying to explain it to me.
Okay, so DH and I will both be 25 when the baby is born. I'll be a year into renewing, so like, 1/4 renewed and DH will be one year in which is 1/3 renewed for him, which means the baby should be a boy?
Is that right? I mean, yeah, we're having a boy most likely any way but... did I figure that right?
No, because you were 1/4 and your hubs was 3/3, so boy was stronger.
Yep you did.
Oh, crap, this is showing right for all the rest of you. Maybe I shouldn't buy so much pink ...?
With the Gay rights movement happening, our kids could still get married!

Well there you go. Undeniable proof. That woman is a genius.

It has to do with how old you are when you deliver, so you won't know until you get KU, but she said in that case it would be 50/50 either way. Her whole goal was certain kids in a certain order (b/g/b/g) so she waited for the times when she was "guaranteed" to get what she wanted.
And I didn't ask her about babies born a little early (say they are due close to one of your birthdays and come before instead of after.) I think that's where the month of conception part came in. I'll have to ask her. Perhaps I'll take some tylenol before hand this time.
That's interesting! I think I could go along with it.
2012
They must've been equally renewed. Only explanation!
Okay, I was 31 when Abe was born, so 3/4. DH was 26, so 2/3. That should have made him a girl, right?
When this baby is born I will be 33 (1/4) and DH will be 28 (1/3), so boy. Did I do that right?
Abraham Arthur 2/21/10 // Asher Kendall 11/11/11
Both interesting questions. This is how her "Russian Grandmothers" (I swear, I could almost see the quotes hanging in the air when she said it) would determine the way of things. I'll have to ask her. Probably she'll just say something like "It cannot be known, things such as this."
Hm.
I'll be 21, so 1/4 refreshed. FI will be 25*, so 1/3 refreshed? And so it makes sense that we're having a boy.
*BUT his birthday is a week before my EDD. If he's 24, he'll be fully refreshed so its still boy?
For real this had me trying to remember if 1/3 was bigger than 1/4, and then doubting it.
Okay good, it was wrong for someone. That was starting to get freaky.
I didn't even think about M - I was 1/2 and her dad was 3/3 so she should have been a boy according to this. Maybe it's just opposite for some people? Angie, we'll have to see if it's wrong for your second LO.
