Pregnant after a Loss

Not feeling so well.... :)

Let me start by saying that I am very glad to be having symptoms as it gives me comfort.

But... wow I am so exhausted I can barely move. I am not getting any work done at all. I feel really behind at work. Our house is a mess. I am so sleepy. Too tired to sit at the computer and Bump!

And wow, m/s! (They've really got to change the name of morning sickness.) I am lucky - I'm not actually throwing up that much But I feel nauseated pretty much all of the time. Plus now I have this horrible pain type feeling in my stomach every afternoon - sort of like a  heartburn feeling but not really. It's lovely.

Second tri is nicer in this respect, yes?

Re: Not feeling so well.... :)

  • Yes, it gets better.  ((((hugs)))))

Just let the housework go.  Do what you need to do to survive until you feel better and the rest can wait.  Get your DH to help you with whatever he can.  Also, try eating mini meals, as many women find that helps.  If all you can eat and keep down is crap, then at least you can eat that.  Dealing with morning sickness is more about survival than nutrition.  Do your best to get plenty of water and your prenatal in.  Past that, eat what you can eat when you can eat.  That's actually what my doctor told me to do.  Once the aversions and puking get better you can balance out your diet.

  • I actually realized that I was more exhausted and should have slowed down during my first trimester.  It definitely gets better.  I had a lot more energy towards end of frist trimester at about 10wks.  I am now starting to slow down again though, but no more nausea.  I can actually eat and enjoy food.  Your body is going through a lot right now.  Hang in there and you will feel better soon!

  • Is it weird that I'm glad you're feeling sick?  Definitely understand what you mean about symptoms giving comfort.

2nd tri is definitely nicer in terms of the nausea.

  • That's great! I have a throwing-up phobia, and spent my last pg hoping desperately to avoid m/s...After that one went awry, now I am hoping so hard to feel sick with this one.

  • Congrats on having symptoms! I felt awful weeks 7-9 then it started to ease. I still puke randomly, but most of the time I'm not nauseous which is a welcomed change.

Definitely eat whatever looks and smells good. I survived on chocolate milk and animal crackers for a while. I had good luck with unisom at night and extra B6 during the day- so good that then I freaked out when my symptoms got better.

As for fatigue, I'm still waiting for that to get better. I took 2 one hour naps today!

I have the all day nausea also. I have found that if I eat every two hours it really helps and drink lots of water.

  • I hear ya, as much as being nauseous isn't really the best time, its nice to have the reassurance. Mine doesn't really get bad until the evening (and by bad I mean nothing sounds good and every bite seems like it might put me over the edge) but yeah I feel funny all day. Dh bought me a blueberry muffin yesterday and I was going to try to be good and not eat it but by lunchtime it sounded so good so I had that for lunch... meh. I try not to let my stomach get empty and snack on things that are "safe" (almonds, crackers, previously cheese sticks) and it seems to help a bit.

  • This was exactly how I was until around 14-16 weeks the nausea got much better. I had to take a bump break basically for 6 weeks b/c being on the computer made it even worse. I laugh when I hear morning sickness b/c I also was nauseous all day and it would get worse as the day went on. Try to take it easy with work and the house stuff, I would fight myself over this too. It will get done when it gets done:) Take care and rest as much as possible!

  • I know what you mean. I have been totally wiped this whole weekend. I actually took a two hour nap on Saturday, I felt like I couldn't keep my eyes open. My husband is so sweet about it, and happy I took a nap:) I haven't really had any nausea yet, but some foods definitely taste a little weird. I'm still not even 7 weeks so we'll see what happens.....

  • I am right there with you.  I am exhausted and the nausea fully kicked in while we were camping this weekend.  Just take it easy and do as little as possible until you start to feeling better.
