We were supposed to go to a first birthday party today.
It's been storming all day.
The friends who were having the party have no power.
So they canceled the party.
They called us, and everyone else, to tell us that it's rescheduled.
Then, because they couldn't get in touch with some people, they posted it on facebook.
Since the facebook post, SIL, who was not invited, called to tell us that the party was canceled. Since MH ignored her call, she called me immediately after calling him. She seemed genuinely surprised that we already knew.
45 seconds later, MIL, who also was not invited, calls MH to tell him that the party was canceled. She also seemed genuinely surprised that we already knew.
Are we actually so incompetent as human beings that it's inconceivable that we EFFING KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON IN OUR OWN LIVES?!?!?!?! ![]()

Yeaaah, the trick is getting them to perceive it that way.

I find that my family is a bunch of perfectionists and they're so anxious that you'll make a mistake (like--gasp!--drive to the party and find out it's canceled. Worst case scenario? You drive home.) that they do everything in their power to STOP you from encountering trouble/conflict/adult conundrums.
Could this be the case or are they just nosey?

Pretty sure it's prolly both.

Oh, there's certainly prior...stuff...in how they act toward us, but I'm prickly and independent in general. I'd be annoyed at anyone who thought I needed them to keep our social schedule, especially for things where they had no part in them in the first place.
