AW/Good news/not so good news

AW: My girls are a month old today!

Good news: Two of my girls are on 24 hour nasal cannilus and they have their picc lines out. They get to wear clothes and are so CUTE (if I do say so myself).

Not so good news: My third and littlest peanut has an infection. They don't/know the source of It and it was caught because of a CBC coming back odd. Her spinal came back negative (i hate she had to have that done). Hopefully they just caught it before it got bad. A little AW for her though: She has almost doubled her birth size! :-)

Re: AW/Good news/not so good news

  • Yay that they are a month old!

Yay that they are wearing clothes, have their picc lines out and are on the nasal cannilus

I think the 3rd is actually pretty positive.  Yes, it stinks that she has an infection, but it sounds like they caught it early.   Also, it is super positive that her spinal was clear.  Hopefully she'll kick it in no time!

  • Huzzah for clothing! Putting clothing on my boy and taking home dirtly linens was one of the nicest things.

  • Yay for the good news! And as far as the infection, Emily has had three already. And she got better and kicked all three. I bet your baby gets better in no time Smile

  • The Dr just called and said that a blood culture came back positive. She didn't have the exact details of It when she called but It is one of two things....the first I can't remember (which is terrible of me....I really should hand my husband the phone when they call because I don't retain the info like I should because Im just thinking of my poor peanut) the other Is staph. So they are treating her with antibiotics, which they started yesterday, and they may have to remove her picc line for a couple days. She did say Vivian is still as feisty has ever which is good that she never showed signs of an infection, in regards to her color and personality. Saying that her belly was bloated so they put a tube In it to hopefully get rid of the air.

I'm very glad they caught it early but I hate what she has to go through for the Drs to find out the source. I know its necessary (and really, they probably don't feel it the way we would) but...it just sucks.

Boston that is such a cute pic of your daughter!

  • Yay for good news! I'm so sorry to hear that #3 has picked up an infection. I hope that it clears soon. Hugs!
