Do you drink when your LO is awake? Like at a party or something?
I can't bring myself to have a drink when DS is up, and I don't know why. I'm a light weight, so one drink and I feel slightly dizzy, but relaxed. I'm not a big drinker either, so I'm not exactly sure where this coming from.
I'm just wondering if there are others out there that have a drink of beer, wine...when your LO is up.
Re: Q. for those who drink...
Same here!
This.
I do not drink unless I have an overnight sitter for DD. Ever since having her I am super duper light weight. One or two drinks and I get super sleepy. More than two and I'm tipsy. DH and I each take turns going out with friends on our own and then we get a sitter once or twice a month so that's when I'll have a few drinks. We still serve beer/wine to our guests as I most definitely don't have an issue if others have a few drinks in front of their children. I just know myself and my limitations.
ETA: I wish I had the ability to have a drink or two in front of my DD as to teach her healthy drinking habits but I don't think having mommy fall asleep or get silly every time would accomplish that.
Um, my toddler's standard Friday night phrase is "it's MARTINI time!" She loves it because she gets olives.
Friday has always been martini night. One gin martini while we're making dinner and snack on cheese and crackers. I have a pretty high tolerance and would never even consider getting tipsy around her, but I don't have a problem with a beer or two around her on the weekends. My parents drank responsibly (wine, mostly) around us, and I will do the same with my kids.
Yes, all the time. Seriously. It's a long-running tradition around here to have late afternoon/early evening play dates during which the parents have some wine and we either make dinner for the kids at someone's house or order a pizza for adults and kids, especially in the winter when we've all been shut up in our houses all day.
I don't get drunk, but I don't see what's wrong with unwinding with a glass of wine. None of us have to drive home, we all live in walking distance, if that makes any difference.
DH and I often have wine with our dinner on weekends as well, when we're eating with DD.
Yup, this is us, except for (awesome) names for drinks - I'm so stealing this!!
Bubblegum Explosion
That doesn't sound awful, it sounds smart
This seriously just made me laugh out loud, hahaha!
same here. Sometimes we'll both have a beer with dinner.
