Stay at Home Moms

any good "mom" blogs?

I'm a soon to be SAHM... YAY is all I can say! I still have about 9 weeks to go before baby gets here but my last day at work is June 10th.

so i'm wondering if you guys can reccomend any good blogs out there. Anything good for SAHMs, natural moms (baby food recipes and such), thrifty or money saving mom stuff, or craft stuff would be great!

thanks for the help!

Re: any good "mom" blogs?

  • My two favorite blogs are www.kellehampton.com and www.digthischickmt.com.

Make sure to start from the beginning on the Kelle Hampton blog with her daughter's birth story. She is such an amazing woman...

They don't have recipes (well, the second one does from time to time), but they are both great moms and write well and take beautiful photos.

  • I LOVE the Kelle Hampton blog. So beautiful.

I would also recommend BabyRabies.com and dooce.com for mom stuff, and Thethriftymama.com and organicdeals.com for Organic Foods/ Saving Money.

Is it bad if I add my blog?

  • Wow....I just went to the Kelle Hampton blog and clicked on the "If you're new start here" and read her daughters birth story...

I have never in my life read anything more heartfelt and beautiful. I am an absolute mess and in tears. There should be a warning before reading such a beautifully powerful story. I am seriously a changed and better person for reading it. Thank you for sharing.

  • I re-read that for the 3rd or 4th time just now too. Tears. Blubbering.

    It's so beautiful.

I thought of another couple recipe blogs: SmittenKitchen.com and $5 Dinners.

I know, I love Kelle! Seriously, I am obsessed with her! :) And her DD Nella is about two weeks older than my DD, so it's fun to see what she is up to. And they sometimes have the same clothing! :) I am such a nerd, but I just love her and her blog!

  • Here are two local blogs of people I know, both are actually written by men, but both are amazing.

such a sad story, read the new here part first and you will get caught up.  His daughter is the same age as mine and I believe he was on Oprah about two years ago.

Friend of mine who has some funny insights on his twin girls.

  • There are quite a number of mama blogs on this board. Mrs.Shavers & Sprite(something) to name a few. I have a few in my blog listing of places I go.

The artful parent is fabulous as is pink and green mama. There's also No Time For Flashcards

I have found a lot of good resources just by checking out blog rolls or clicking on blog buttons (usually found on the side bar) of blogs I like. If you start clicking it can get addictive! There's also For the Love Of Blogs which is a site where you can link up blogs. Have fun!

  • I second BabyRabies.

I actually disagree with the Kellee Hampton blog- or however you spell her name..

If you really start to think about it, she is a self centered woman. When she writes about her child, it's about how *she, Kellee* has come so far, not how her daughter has come so far.

I finally stopped reading her crap when her friend's child died and Kellee made it all about herself and her family. There was a good thread on money Matters about it all. It made it all very clear to me.

  • brandiandchris.blogspot.com It's a blog about their little girl Scarlett that has brain cancer. It can be quite sad at times but I also find it very inspiring! They are an amazing couple with an amazing little girl! A wonderful blog to read!
