So I will admit that I have been a bit of a registry stalker since invitations have gone out for my shower(s).
I registered at both BRU and Target. My original strategy was to split up the important items, so there were good things to choose from both places (to be make it more conveinent). However, no one has bought a thing from my Target registry. I actually thought Target would be the more popular place because there are so many more locations.
Should I start adding some of the more important items to my BRU registry since it seems that more people are shopping there? What would you do?
p.s. Just because I know I could get some flames, I feel like I should point out that we are prepared to buy the essentials ourselves and are not relaying on others to get everything for us. I just know that based on our family and friends, many of the essential items will be taken care of for us (and that is fine by me!).
Re: WWYD Registry Question
I don't think it would hurt. I was originally going to do what you did, register at both places because Target is so much more accessible. The problem I found is that there just really isn't a lot of options in the Target stores so I foudn it hard to register there. I didn't want to get too many things that people had to order because it kind of defeated the purpose. I ended up just going with BRU because of this and it has been working fine so far.
Maybe the things that were available in your Target store aren't available in other ones or something? I think maybe people tend to go to BRU if they can because they know there will be more there to choose from.
I tried to do the same thing, register at BRU and Target. Same reasons, Target is more accesible and some people (mostly people who aren't already or recently mom's) hate BRU. It is a more complicated store if you are a novice. But the Target in my area doesn't have nearly as much selection. So I've mostly added to the BRU but have made sure there are some things still at Target so that people still have that option.
Also, sorta off topic has anyone else had issues with BRU and their registry? I tried to add some items online and if I pick the blue item it still puts it as pink on my registry. So I picked green and it puts pink. It always seems to default to pink. And this has happened to about 10 of my items. Not really a big deal I can always just go in and exchange it. But I just thought it was weird. Also some of the items I did in the store say they are not accesible at the stores. BRU doesn't seem all that accurate.
If you end up with duplicate items I've heard that BRU only gives you store credit so you may want to try to return them to Target first. I haven't had my shower yet that is just what I've heard.
I'm planning on doing this too, Target has been a pain because they just don't have a lot in the store! I tried to put things on both, but if my BRU gets short I'll probably add things from Target on there. I just know that my family doesn't get things online so with Target I had really pay attention to if it was available, and I live far from where my shower is so making sure it was available even at their locations was hard!
Just a side note about the Target return policy, they only allow two returns a calendar year without a receipt per person, so be careful!
This keeps happening to me too. Irritating... but hopefully my friends and family know me well enough to buy the green/blue items!
I registered at three places - Target, BBB, & BRU. Seems extreme, I know. But the locations of these stores in relation to where my friends live allow them to go to the store nearest them...where there's no BBB, there's a BRU, etc. I just put the same products (or similar ones) on all my registries and as I've received them, my mother goes in and deletes the items from the other registries.
Since I knew I would be a registery stalker, I registered for duplicate items at BRU and Target. Although there was some items that I only did at one or the other due to patterns, etc. I plan on removing an item from one of the registeries after I see that it has been purchased at the other store, that way I don't end up with too much needing to be returned.
