DS2 has a milk allergy that we learned about at about 2 wks old--- and the doc suggested either me going dairy free and continuing to breastfeed or trying alimentum. We've been doing the formula and freezing BM (just in case)--- and I don't see much of a difference in him in terms of fussiness/gas/etc.
So I wondered if there is anyone here who has tried both Alimentum AND Nutramigen and could tell me if one worked better than the other. Or what your docs have said about it. Our pedi basically only gave the Alimentum as a choice --I just realized Enfamil even has one too.
Re: Nutramigen vs Alimentum formula for allergic babies?
We used Nutramigen with DD1 because she was allergic to milk proteins and frequently had blood in her stool. Unfortunately, it didn't do anything for the gas in her belly. Poor thing was always in pain. But, I stuck with it because it was the only formula that she could use and didn't cause her to bleed. I don't have any experience with Alimentum though. Sorry. HTH's
