What are you dressing you LO in?

I know that I am supposed to put one extra layer on her, but are you still putting your baby in sleeper's or actual outfits at this point?

It is hot where I live right now.. high 80's, with a lot of humidity, so I am not sure how much clothing she should have on.

Re: What are you dressing you LO in?

  • It's still in the 50s here so he's always in footie sleepers. He's also still underweight and gets cold very easily though.

  • At home she is in either 1 piece or 2 piece sleepers with feet. Sonetimes long sleeve, sometimes short sleeve. Always has a cozy blanket on her. When we go out, it is typically comfy outfits, short sleeve or sleeveless, again always has a fleecey-type blanket.

  • It is unholy how hot it is here lately, so he's usually in a onesie and socks around the house and for sleep.  If we go out, I put a little shorts and short sleeves outfit on him.

this for us. Onesie and socks.  Sleep gown at night, with swaddle (muslin.

If we go out, add a blanket on the car seat.

  • When it's a bit chilly: zipper sleeper (+ light receiving blanket swaddle at night)

When it's warm: a onesie, with socks if I think he needs leg/foot coverage

When out: usually a blanket over him in the stroller/carseat if it's colder outside than in.

Real outfits are a PITA. I've been avoiding pants for him as much as possible. It just makes diaper changes that much more difficult.

  • If we are just hanging out around the house, usually I keep her in her sleeper. If we have plans to go outside I dress her in a onesie with pants.

  • In the house- short sleeve onsie and pants during the day and sleeper with swaddle at night.  Usually we have a receiving blanket on him.

When we go out- the same, but I put a long sleeve light jacket on sometimes.

  • Sleeper and receiving blanket.  It's been strangely chilly here for the past week.  When it warms up she'll live in onesies.

K has 1,000,000 outfits so we dress her daily. Usually a one piece outfit, sleeveless with fuffles on the butt. Then we keep a blanket on her and you cant even see what shes wearing, go figure!

at night its a sleep gown with a blanket. might go buy a&a today because the fleece blankets are too warm over her gowns, but she wiggles free so i dont want to do just a short sleeve onsie.

her legs are too skinny to keep socks on, lol

  • Actual outfits during the day, sleeper or gown at night.  She gets swaddled in a hospital blanket and a+a at night, during the day we just cover her with a blanket (no swaddle).
  • It's hot here- Ben's usually got on a one piece something with hand covers b/c he's still scratching his face. Sometimes with feet, sometimes without, sometimes a onesie.

He sleeps in a wrap around shirt thing and a swaddle.  He's needs a diaper change 3-4 times a night and it's easier if he doesn't have pants on under the swaddle.

  • thanks girls.  If this was the winter, I wouldn't question myself, but since it's getting very summerlike, I don't want to overheat her.

I am doing the same as you all wrote... sleepers/light blanket and then swaddle at night.  I don't have too many actual NB sized outfits, so we haven't worn any yet, but I have plenty of cute sleepers.

  • Well, LO wears sleepers around the house and cute outfits when/if we ever go anywhere - which has only happened a couple of times. Our newborn clothing option is small because, well, no one thinks their LO will be in newborn clothes long. She's 3 weeks and still under 7lbs, so we still have a while before we fit into anything bigger. I think I need to do a little shopping!!

ANYWAY, we always keep a blanket over her legs because her feet are too skinny for socks. They're always kicked off before we're even off the changing table.

  • It's been cold and rainy the past couple of days, so he is in sleepers at night and a long sleeve onesie and pants during the day.    Today it is sunny out,  so I just have him in a long sleeve onesie, no pants and wrapped him in a light receiving blanket.

This. It is over 100 degrees here. I use a receiving blanket for her swaddle and to cover her from the sun outside. I just check her skin throughout the day, if she feels cool, I cover her with a receiving blanket.

  • It varies here from 50 degrees to 70 degrees on any given day here, so it really depends. It's either a sleeper, a carters outfit, or a onesie with socks.

For those with babies who can't keep their socks on--if you are worried about their little feet being cold, you can hold the socks on with tape. Put socks on, fold extra cloth over and tape cloth to cloth. A little bit of NICU nurse wisdom to pass along.
  • I've been just putting her in a onesie it's warm here also unless we are out & about in that case she's in 2 piece outfits or dresses.

  • It's still rather cold/chilly in Seattle, so we're dressing M in sleepers.  Just sleepers and the "straight jacket" (Halo sleep sacks).  We've just come to accept that we failed swaddling miserably, regardless of the eons of blankets that we have and tried.

  • It's still on the cool side in Portland, so mostly zipper footed sleepers.  Snaps suck!  I haven't tried any pants because it seems like too much work.  She's wrapped in a swaddler at night and sometimes during the day for comfort.  I have tons of NB short-sleeve onesies that I have a feeling she may never wear, if the weather doesn't warm up before she outgrows them.  At least most of them were hand me downs so I don't feel like I wasted my money.
