Eye contact?

When do babies start making eye contact?  My little man is 5 weeks, and he will look at me here and there, but no eye contact.  Normal?

Re: Eye contact?

  • Our pediatrician said about a month to two months is 'average.' (She only mentioned it because she was very unnerved at the amount of prolonged, focused eye contact my 4 day old was making. Now we're having to watch for signs of childhood schizophrenia [my father was schizophrenic, and I was diagnosed last year], because apparently the creepy eye contact has recently been pinpointed as a symptom. Awesome. Ugh Sad )

However, Every baby is different! And milestone averages are just that, averages.
