Confused, can you help me understand? PLEASE HELP

Yesterday I got the report back from the developmental pediatrician.  During his exam he did a MCHAT observation with my ds2. (this appointment took about 2 hours)  In his report he stated that ds failed 2 major and 2 minor criteria, but then in the paragraph under impressions he states "at this point, do not have an index of suspicion for an Autism Spectrum Disorder by observation".   Now everything I have researched and read says failing 2 major and or any 3 that he needs further evaluations.  Can someone please explain to me what should be going on? EDIS will not be open until Tue for me to call them and ask, and this developmental ped was only a visting one from Japan. (we are overseas).

Also in his notes he states that ds's CLAMS: base and ceiling at 14months with a DQ of 78  and CAT: Base at 12months equivalent 13.8 months with a DQ of 76

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

ETA that ds2 is 19months

  • Thanks auntie for that.  It just really baffled me that he just said to stick with EDIS. As soon as they work out their sched. he will have have speech therapy once a week and OT therapy once a week per is IFSP.

What confused me the most that I just remembered is that during the appointment the DP said there were certain indicators for ASD but because he was only so young it was just something to keep an eye on.   H was in the middle of surgery while we were at this appointment so he was a little hard for him to make it lol.

All three of the EDIS therapist that have been here during evals have made nurmous comments towards ds being within the ASD scale.  I think we will just have to really fight when we get back to the states.
