Redness/burning "down there"?

When I had my prenatal exam 1 week ago today, it really hurt when she inserted the speculum.  She took a look and saw that it was very red just inside my labia.  She tested for yeast, but there was none.  I haven't noticed it much this week (nor did I notice it prior to then), but the last couple of days I've felt burning in that area, and I checked and it's still red.

So, if not a yeast infection, what?  She asked if we'd been using a new detergent or soap...the answer was yes to detergent, however, we only use totally green detergents anyway - no chemicals, dyes, etc.  I suppose it's possible I could be having a reaction to a "safe" ingredient, so should probably go back to our old detergent and see what happens.

Otherwise, what do you suppose is causing this?

Childhood cancer (DH) + chemo + radiation = 0 sperm.
LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
Life is beautiful!

Re: Redness/burning "down there"?

  • Same thing happened to a gal pal of mine, her body reacted strangely to a "green" detergent..

  • I had that during both my pregnancies, for some reason my body was reacting weird to everything. My midwife and my ob both recommended using whatever I would planned on using for the baby for redness or rash. It helped!

  • Did she also test for a bacterial infection?  I've heard the symptoms are usually the same as a yeast infection.  If you are still experiencing this through the weekend, I would definitely go in and get it checked out.  Poor thing, hopefully it doesn't ruin your holiday weekend!!

  • I'd go back to the old detergent.

Green detergents can use lots of botanical stuff which can be way irritating, like using weeds at toilet paper. :)

What are your old and new detergents?

I bet that's it.  As someone who knows too much about CDs and CD washing, I'm amazed at how much of a difference detergents make, and all are considered green detergents.

    I'm so so sorry, SeaSoul!!!

  • I'm just getting over months if the same issue and it was detergent related. After a random conversation with my sister, she said that she can only use tide free or she has the same issue. I madethe switch and things are finally on the mend! I hope you get relief soon!!
  • i would vote for the detergent...

i actually tend to stay away from "green" stuff for that reason...because im allergic to just about every thing natural, haha. i have to use only shampoo, body wash etc that has the fewest ingredients, but stuff you have never heard of, haha..any type of flower or herb, im pretty much allergic too :P
