Long AW: I failed my induction :( But I have an oustide baby :) (PIP)

It took us a while but we are finally home and settled after being in the hospital for four and a half days!

Originally I had planned to labor naturally and with as little interventions as possible.  I wanted to stay home as long as I could, be monitored as little as possible, use the shower for contractions, use no pain meds, avoid epi, and a c-sec was not even in my mind.

So, I went in Sunday at 8 am for an induction because I was 10 days overdue and not making any progress toward laboring on my own.  I actually started to lose my mucus plug that morning on my own, which made me really optimistic.  The doc chose to do cytotec every fours hours until I was making progress and I was doing great with the contractions and got my hopes up for a baby by Monday morning.

I lost my first battle around 1am and asked for some meds.  They helped and I got some sleep and kept working through. However, it took 24 hours of cytotec doses to get me dilated to 2.5 and at that point I was exhausted from having to be in early labor at the hospital and getting checked hourly with not much sleep.  Monday at 9 the doc broke my water and started pitocin.  I worked hard breathing through my contractions and kept getting the pain meds every so often.  I made it to 4.5 by 2pm and that's when sh*t hit the fan.  I was too exhausted to keep breathing through the pain and the baby was not dropping even though I was dilating and thinning.  The nurse advised me to get the epi since I was wanting more pain relief and the meds wouldn't really be effective anymore.

Fail number 2, I got the epidural at about 3:30.  Like everyone says, it was amazing.  I was really disappointed but I knew I had a long road ahead of me and this was my best chance of being able to push.  After a while I noticed the pit had stopped working and my contractions were slowing down.

At 8:30 I had only dilated to 5 and the doctor told me that because baby was still -2 station and I had only dilated half a cenitmeter in 6 hours that I could keep laboring but either way I was going to need a c-sec.  I was devastated but within the hour my baby boy was born.  The Friday before he was estimated at 8 pounds...it's amazing how much they can be off, but he was 11 days late!

Jackson Walter was born at 9:27pm May 23, 9 pounds 8 ounces, 21 inches long.

If you made it all the way down here, I would love for you all to meet the most perfect baby in the entire world! (In my world anyway...hehe.)
