Do you think this is a legit spelling for the name Madeline/Madeleine... Madailein
This is not a matter of opinion. Madailein is absolutely NOT a legitimate spelling.
Now, some people may be brave enough to step in here, and tell you that spelling is subjective (eventhough it isn't). But even those people know that there is a difference between traditional spellings, and creativity. And what you have there would not even be pronounced the same. It would be muh-DAY-leen.
It is a legit name. Just different country of origin. I would not really say it is a legit spelling of Madeline though?as in the sense that Madeline and Madeleine are.
It is Irish ? derived from the same name as Madeline ? Magdalene:
English form of MAGDALENE. This is the name of the heroine in a series of children's books by Ludwig Bemelmans, first published 1939.
I think the accent mark is what makes it legit vs. without being not legit. Plus I would also step out of my bounds and say unless you live in Ireland I wouldn't use that spelling.

So, it would be like saying that Pierre is a legitimate spelling for Pedro.
Pierre and Pedro are both forms of Peter, but they are not the same name.
That is a terrible spelling of such a classic name. My neice (17yrs old) is Madeline, I asked her how she'd feeling with that spelling and she said it would be a nightmare, people are already horrible enough attempting to spell her name as is.
Re: Is this a "legit" spelling for the name Madeline/Madeleine?
