I can finally half sit in the computer chair to type this!
May 19th - My due date, I had a membrane sweep done at my doctors appointment, we also got our new 4wheeler that day.. and of course when we got it home I wanted to go for a drive on it! After getting home from about a 3 hour 4wheeler ride it was bedtime, I woke up at 2am with what I figured were contractions. They were about 15 min apart at this time so I called L&D to see what I should do (since I live 1 1/2 hrs away from the hospital) They told me they didn?t think it sounded like I was in labour so to take a few Tylenol and get in the bath. I sat in the bath for about 10 min and my contractions immediately went to 5-7 min apart so I quickly got out of there!! I suffered it out until about 7am and went to my mothers house. At this point I was having to breathe through my contractions (still anywhere from 5-7 min apart) Called L&D again and they said it could be false labour since I had a membrane sweep done and it could last up to 36 hours!! I decided I didn?t care, and I was going in anyways.. well when I got there i was only 2 cm dilated and contractions weren?t "regular enough". We went out for lunch and it felt like my contractions were on top of each other!! They gave me a morphine shot for the pain but still wouldn?t admit me. We got a hotel room close to the hospital because I KNEW this had to be it and I didn?t want to be so far away if I had to go back really quick. I got to rest for about an hour and I couldn?t handle the pain anymore so it was time to go back. 3rd times the charm because this time when I went back I was finally 4 cm and they admitted me at around 4pm! My whole family was there with me which made it really nice. I just focused on breathing through each contraction and I was doing fine, the nurses offered me the epidural because the anaesthesiologist may not be available later on. The nurses said I was doing so great they didn?t think I would need it at all but the ONLY reason I took it was because I wanted to spend the rest of my labour with my family and be able to have a happy time and talk to them (selfish I know but it ended up being the right thing!) Turns out the epidural wasn?t even turned on and I didn?t even know it until later when the nurse checked it! He had to come back to turn it on! Around 2 am My family decided they were going to go back to the hotel because things were going pretty slow and I was stuck at 5cm for a long time. 1 and a half hours later they were called back because I was fully dilated! My Grandmother, Mother, and my hubby were all in the room during delivery (picture my grandmother holding my legs for me LOL) I ended up pushing for around 2 hours when the nurses decided I wasn?t going to be able to push the baby out by myself, they called the doctor in and he had to use the vacuum, that still didn?t work so I ended up with an episiotomy as well. The cord was wrapped around the baby?s neck TWICE and knotted! So hubby didn?t get to cut baby?s cord. He was born 5:37am May 21st Even though I did have a rough time, I felt I did way better than I ever could have imagined. I didn?t even yell at anyone haha. Hubby didn?t leave my side ONCE during the whole process either! Now I realize why people say you forget about the pain after you see your baby, and you sure do (except for having a bazillion stitches in my crotch or Vageanus as my brother called it- that I still feel!) But here is my cutie ! We love him so much and I couldn?t believe he had hair considering I have never had heartburn in my life!!
