Spence loves this one called Shapes (Toddler Teasers). Interactive Alphabet has a "flashcard game" that the boys love too--every picture has something to touch or move. Hold on, he's crying. BRB
As Nico would say "Angwy Biwds." Peek a boo barn was also a favorite when he was younger. They have some doodle games too but they're not on my phone anymore. Now the kids will just watch netflix cartoons. Yes, my 3 year old knows how to pull up netflix and find a cartoon to watch. But in the airplane you can't stream over 3g.
Yeah. I'm trying to download as many YouTube videos as possible so I don't have to worry about lack of internet on the plane.
You could also rent movies on iTunes. It'll download and then you can start watching whenever you want but must finish it with in 24 hours. I've done this for myself when traveling.
My DD loves the apps called cookie doodle (there is also cake doodle and candy doodle). They get to make cookies then decorate them and eat them. I can't remember how old she was when she really got into it, but I want to say early two. It would keep her busy for at least half a flight!
Re: favorite iPhone apps & YouTube videos
Nick Jr.'s A-Z
Old Mac
Babies (talking and dancing baby)
Red Me Stories (one free story book a day)

My boys are obsessed with these videos:
Dog Days Are Over by Flo + the machine
White Knuckles by OK Go
This Too Shall Pass by OK Go
and especially this Sesame Street series of clips
They would watch all of these over and over and over if I let them.
