Climbing on bumpers-Should they go?

We have breathable bumpers in DD's crib that have been there since she was about 6 months old. She's recently started trying to climb on them (along with everything else). Obviously they collapse and are not helping her climb out or anything, but I'm wondering if I should take them out anyway. Would you take 'em out or leave 'em?

We took ours out when DD started to climb on hers. It made changing her sheets easier anyway.
