My cat woke me up this morning at about 4:30 am. I knew I was going to test this morning so I was trying not to go to the bathroom. Well there was no way I could've gone back to sleep without going. I went back to sleep until 7:30 am and slept fine. So now I want to test but I'm worried that it won't be accurate since I already went to the bathroom once today. I didn't eat or drink anything for about 5 hours before I went to bed, would that make a difference? Or should I just wait until tomorrow morning? I realize this isn't the the best question and I might sound a little ridiculous but I'm just wondering. Thanks!

Re: Question about FMU
The same thing has happened to me before where I wake up early in the morning (4AM or 5AM) and absolutely can NOT hold it and I've gone. I didn't drink anything until I got to work and tested and I still would get a positive result on my OPK. So it doesn't hurt to try testing still with the next bathroom trip.
From peeonastick.com:
15. Do I have to test with my first morning urine (FMU)? Not necessarily. In general, FMU is the most concentrated urine of the day and thus more likely to have built up more hCG in it. If you are testing early (before 14 DPO), the HPT is more likely to detect the hCG in your FMU. After 14 DPO there should be enough hCG to be detected at any time of day. Some women have better luck with second morning urine (SMU.) A good rule of thumb: hold your pee for 3-4 hours (and drink as little as possible!) Then pee in a cup. If your urine looks nice and yellow, it's concentrated enough for testing (see FAQ 16 below for more info on peeing in cups vs. peeing on sticks.) If it looks diluted, dump it and try again later.ETA: wow C&P fail.
Do you know that you are 16-17 DPO because you chart and you confirmed O by your thermal shift? If you are truly 16-17 DPO, you should have enough hCG in your system to get a + now and not have to wait for FMU.
This.
If you are really 16-17 dpo, that second line will turn pink no matter what pee you put on it. (If you are pregnant, that is)
Good luck!
