I like Ellie as a first name, but I can't use it because my sister's name is Kellie.
I really like Eleanor

We love Ellie too!! On the list for number 2. Think it works for Eleanor, Elise, Elizabeth, Ella, Elle, Elodie, Noelle??
Good luck!
I think the suggestion of using Noelle for Ellie is great--that way, if there's too many Ellie-somethings in her classes at school (or any other point in her life), she has a less-trendy name to "fall back on."
Adele! It's our top girl name now, but we would plan on using the nn Ada (mainly to avoid confusion bc we have a family member whose name sounds very close to Adele).

My DD's name is Ellie and my sister's name is Kelly. My sister didn't bring it up until DD was almost due and I didn't think of it prior. We loved it so much we didn't care and now my sister tells everyone we named DD after her.
I know a little girl called Gabrielle with nn Ellie - I really like it because my name is Gabrielle and although I like my full name I hate my nn - Gaby!
My DD's name is Elia (El-EE-uh)...we call her Ellie or Elle alot. We've gotten alot of compliments. There is also an Ellie at daycare and her given name is Eleanor. Good luck!
Re: Girl names with "Ellie" as a nickname: Recommendations?

Maybe use the initials L.E.?
Lauren Elizabeth
Lorelai Eve
Pronounce the initials Ellie?
One of my daughters is named Elise. My H planned to call her Ellie, but he never has. Either way, I love the name - its a normal name and not common.
