We got back home from errands and she is sleeping nicely in her bucket car seat. Would you wait till she wakes to take her out or take her out as soon as you get home? Curious to see what everyone does.
i take her out because i don't like her being chin to chest any longer than she has to be. i've heard mixed things that it compresses their airway and isn't good for them, and also that it's fine. who knows, but i err on the side of caution. also, i have a sweaty baby, so if it's the least bit warm and she's in the car seat for an extended time she comes out a bit damp.
Nope. DS fell asleep on our walk so I brought the whole seat in and put him on the floor in the kitchen. DS 1 and I ate a nice lunch together, the he napped also. I got to enjoy lunch, some quiet time and I made dinner.

I let her sleep in the carseat until she wakes up. Usually when I get home the first thing I do is pump, so that gives me some time to take care of that. She will usually wake up within an hour of being home. One time we got home really late and instead of waking her up to go to bed I just put the carseat next to my bed, and when she woke up for her next feeding I moved her to her rock n play.
I let him sleep, generally he wakes up as soon as we get home but if he really needs a nap he will stay asleep. He's hard to put down for a nap so there is no way I would wake him
Wait. Always wait. But DD almost never falls asleep in the car. She hates it.

I wait, but he never stays asleep for more than 10 minutes after the car stops moving, and that's if I'm lucky. Usually the dogs wake him by sniffing him to check for a dirty diaper or spit up as soon as we walk in the house

This! Gives me time to pump as soon as I get home, then when I'm done pumping I'll move him to his bouncer.

My DD had to take 90 a minute carseat test, so I know she's okay even when her head is all tilted to the side and chin-to-chest.
So I usually let her sleep until she wakes up.
My DS had to do the 90 minute car seat test as well, so when he's passed out when we get home I let him sleep. He slept in it for almost an hour tonight after we got home. I just brought it in the living room with me while I folded laundry.

I was wondering this too. I'm guessing it's for preemies, before they leave the hospital? I dunno.

Yes, all preemies have to do a 90 minute car seat test to make sure they don't slouch down too far and block their airway. My son had to do one the day of his discharge before he could go home.

Re: Would you take baby out of care seat?
I let them sleep. If they haven't woken up within 30 mins I'd wake.

My pedi said it was fine to let LO sleep in car seat, although he did suggest to unclasp the chest restraint because that can affect her breathing.

We take him out asap. Babies have died from sleeping in carseats. Not worth the risk IMHO.
