So, I wasn't planning on using high chairs for the girls. I was just going to use bumbos and then transition to a booster seat when they were sitting up really well. I HATE highchairs. I hated the Space Saver chair with a passion for Katie.
Anyway, the girls are eating close to 40oz. a day in formula, so I need to start feeding them some solids. I was going to start around 5 month old anyway. I'm dreading starting this process as well. Just the cleanup factor and finding 3 day old grime just makes me cringe.
So, they are still wobbly in the bumbos for their trunks, but not necessarily for their heads if that makes sense. I tried feeding them in the bumbos before and it was a mess. So, I broke down and decided I'm just going to have to get some highchairs. Instead of buying two regular chairs, I went with the space savers again because of price. So, I was planning on spend about $120 for two chairs.
I get to Target in Florence today (with all 3 kids mind you) and they only had one in stock. That wasn't going to work for us. They said that Newport had two. I asked if they could please call and put one of hold. I pay for one at $52.99 and leave.
So, off we go down to Newport. It was being held at guest services. I get up to the counter and she rings me out. The chair rings up $61.99!!! I said, "Whooaaa!! I just bought the exact same chair 20 minutes ago at the Target in Florence for $52.99. Here is my receipt with the price."
She explains that she can't change the price and the pricing of some items flucuate from store to store based on competitive prices for that area. I asked to see a manager and said, "I would have never come down here with 3 kids in tow to pay more money for the SAME EXACT CHAIR I just bought 2 minutes ago at a store that is 15 miles away."
I guess seeing me wrangle all 3 kids, (twins were getting fussy since it was around their time to eat and Katie nagging me to play with the toys in the dollar spot), she felt sorry for me. She said she will adjust the price, but they don't typically do that.
I thanked her and left with the chair at $52.99.
I knew how much the space saver cost so I didn't bat an eye at $52.99 as they are $59.99 at BRU. I guess the moral of the story is, make sure the price you are paying at your Target store is the typical price. They like to jack them up in some areas to make more money off of you. Grrrrrr.........
Re: Watch your pricing at Target....grrrrrr
That stinks. Because I almost always refuse to go to the store to buy big items like that I will tell you what I would have done....LOL (like it's any help now).
Go to amazon and buy the fisher price space saver for 30 each and let them ship to your house for free with Amazon Prime for Mom's :0) I heart Amazon.

I just got the one and paid more for the other one. I comparison shop before I go anywhere and end up getting it online because a lot of the times it is cheaper.
I have had this happen efore with wedding gifts off of someone's registry..It infuriates me. The thing is it cost too much to drive around and shop for these things at every target to get the best price.
Kroger does this too. It drives me batty!
