Do I really have to time these things?

I'm officially calling the contraction card. These are too intense to be anything else. They seem to be getting closer together and longer but I am in too much pain to worry about timing them. I'm in between ctx while I type this. Do I really have to time them?

I would time a few to get an idea of how things are progressing.  Timing mine was the first sign I had that my labor was going really fast and that I was probably way more dilated than I thought.

  • I would time them. My real ctx were 6 minutes apart for 4 hours, dilating slowly from 3 to 5. Time them for 1-2 hours and see where you stand before you call/go in.
  • Now you've got me curious how close they are!

  • Nope. You can just wait until he slides out to conclude you're in labor.

  • I used this site to time them for a while- you don't have to think and/or do math, which is probably helpful.

I used this, too. It's great. You only need to time for about half an hour to know where you're at. And when you start thinking "maybe the hospital would be okay", it's time to go. Or when you start thinking "I can't do these in the car", it's time to go NOW.

This!  We almost didn't make it to the hospital.  DS2 was born 11 minutes after we got there.  I'd definitely time them.
