shower food suggestions

My BFF is hosting a shower for me in a couple of weeks and she wants my help with food ideas.  The shower is at 3:00 so we won't be doing anything heavy.

So far I have:

Fruit & Veggie trays with dip, chips & salsa, chips & french onion dip, cheese & crackers.

I want to keep it pretty simple and low key.

What are your favorite foods at showers/parties?

TIA

Re: shower food suggestions

  • In additional what the same spread that you have, we did a cold turkey salad and slices of bread from the local bakery. It was good for nibbling, but made a pretty nice sandwich for anyone who had skipped lunch.

  • I like pp's suggestion of a adding a cold pasta salad and a type of bread.

I really want pasta salad now...

  • Maybe add a cold cut platter or pigs in a blanket?
  • There's a cracker spread my family makes that people love. All it is is a 15oz jar of mayo, 2 cups shredded cheddar, jar of hormel bacon bits, small packet of slivered almonds, and 2-3 green onion tops diced. Mix it all together and chill (day before is best). Great on triscuits or those buttery ritz crackers.

  • Crock pot meatballs! In a crockpot, combine 4 parts grape jelly with one part yellow mustard. Heat and stir to combine. Then, add in meatballs and let warm for a few hours before the event. Have toothpicks on hand.

    Simple, warm, easy, and yummy!
