34-week appointment

Did your doctor do a cervical check at your 34-week appointment? Is the strep test usually done at around 36 weeks? I can't remember any of this from last time and I am debating as to whether or not to bring DS with me to my appointment tomorrow morning. I have the first appointment of the day so it should be quick, but if it isn't the basic weight, blood pressure, heartbeat check, I might just send him to daycare for less than an hour.

I had a cervical check, but only because I mentioned spotting and cramping. I'm pretty sure the cervical checks and strep test aren't done until 36 weeks.

I had my 34 week appointment yesterday and they did not check me. They just did the normal stuff. I can't really remember when they start the actual exams though.

I had my 34w4d appt today and they said GBS at next week's appointment and cervical checks probably in two weeks, unless I start having contractions.

im sure mine are to start at 36 weeks. My appt is tommorow and if she tries im going to ask to wait.

Mine is next week at 35 weeks...typically between 35 and 36 week is what I was told.

I did not have an internal at my 34w appointment, but my MW did mention the Step test for 36w.

GBS test is usually 35 or 37 I think. Better to do it later, because it can come and go and you want to know if it's there closer to delivery.

You can just refuse a cervix check unless you're having PTL signs. They're not really helpful, as you can efface/dilate a little without being in labor and then just stop and stagnate until you do start laboring, or it can just move really slowly. It's a little early to do regular internals anyway, but if your doctor seems to want to I'd say it's no biggie to opt out. Again - get the check if you're having any PTL signs, though.

I'm in a different boat being in Europe but mine has been checking my cervix for the past few appointments, now I get 30 min monitoring before my appointments too.

They're doing the GBS test on me at my next appt when I'll be 34w, 6d.

Mine was today and was a regular quick appt, in two weeks at my 36 the doctor said she will do the strep test and a cervical check, I then start weekly appointments!

I did last time but only because I had pre term labor at 33 weeks... but other wise they would have started at 36.

I have my 34 week appt tomorrow. Dr informed me that he will be doing the strep test tomorrow. He also said that he usually does a check starting at week 36, but because I've been having frequent bh contractions, he is going to start tomorrow for me.

I think it just depends on your provider - with DS I had a cervical check at 34 weeks and they were surprised at my progress.

i had my 34 week appointment today and she checked my urine and my blood pressure and all the normal things, the only thing different that happened this time was she checked to see where the baby was positioned and confirmed she is head down and getting into the "dropped" position. but i think every doctors office is different. mine said that the next appointment i have i will be getting the group strep b test so il be 35 almost 36 weeks.
