  • About 4-5 days, I think.

  • I stopped cold-turkey two weeks ago.  My boobs hurt (as in engorged hurt) for about 2-3 days.  I am still leaking though.  My nipples are another story, and this is why I stopped BFing.  They were completely raw because of DD's latch issues and (TMI) little chunks of them were completely gone.  I couldn't even stand in the shower because they hurt so bad.  It feels better now, but for about 5-7 days it was excruciating and didn't get better until they actually started healing.

  • They never really hurt-just a little uncomfy for a day or two.  However, my supply was basically gone when I stopped.

I quit about two weeks ago also and my boobs are still leaking. What are you doing about this. I asked my family doc about taking something to dry up and he said there isn't really anything to take, just wondering what you have heard?

I am just using tons of nursing pads and waiting for it to all dry up.  I haven't taken anything, although I've heard taking Sudafed will dry up the milk.  The leaking isn't too bad now, usually just when I get out of the shower.

  • about 3 days. I wore a sportsbra and that helped with the pain.

  • I don't plan on stopping for a long time but I have heard from more than one sorce that if you put raw cabbage leafs in your bra it will help dry you up. A nurse at the hospital told me this when I had DD#1 plus I've read it in a breastfeeding book. Sounds weird, but maybe you can give it a try.

  • I didn't have much of a supply, but was surprised at how much it hurt when I stopped.  I wore a really tight sports bra (or put a sports bra over a regular bra) 24/7.  I would slip in cabbage leaves for a couple of hours off and on.  After about two days the worst of it was over. I'm not sure if the cabbage leaves really helped since I've never done it without them, but one of my friends swears by it helping with engorgement.  She always buys a head of cabbage on her way home from the hospital.

This, except mine were never even uncomfortable, not even a little bit.
