Katy Area Dr Help

So I'm having a minor freak out. I am going to be having to switch Dr's (due to insurance change). And unfortunately I don't recognize the names of ANY of these dr's. So if you've got any experience with them I'd really appreciate it. Also- I really want to deliver at Katy vs Christus (and I have no opinion yet about Methodist- but I may go tour there also).

Robert Friedman

Geoferry Zimmerman

Joseph Johns

Christiaan Webb

Also- if you've delivered at Christus what's your opinion on the place? I'm really worried about having switch dr's because I love who I see now.

  • Zimmerman was once an on call doctor for me. He was wonderful but I'm sure that doesn't help you. My doctor loved him.

Robert Friedman - He was my BFF's OB until she went high risk at 30 weeks due to HBP.  She really liked him, said he had a fatherly approach.  She was referred to Dr. Doan who is not in the same practice but appararently takes his high risk patients.  Dr. Doan ended up inducing at 37 weeks with pitocin and a foley balloon.  My friend failed to progress after 12 hours (which included being brought in the night before) and ended up with a CS the next morning.

Geoferry Zimmerman -  I have worked with him in the ER at Christus.  He is a very competant proactive physician.  On the younger side but makes his patients comfortable.

Joseph Johns - My favorite of your four choices.  He is on the older side but has delivered the majority of my friends babies.  I have also worked bedside with him.  He has the best bedside manner while being extremely knowledgeable in his field.  I have seen him work with mothers through difficult deliveries and also women with uterine polyp and fibroid issues who may never concieve on their own.  He is compassionate and practical.  I have never heard anyone say anything adverse about him, which means a lot because all nurses talk about the Dr's when their not around.  Everyone loves him.

Christiaan Webb -  I'm not familiar with this one.

I think I remember you saying that you go to Dr Schmidt/Dr Patronella now.  Are the four you listed your only options in Katy?  I would recommend Dr Bethany Peterson if she is on your plan.  She is a gem.  I'm not comfortable seeing a physician in strirrups that I've worked with so I wouldn't go to any of the above mentioned male Dr's.

I also used to work at Christus... I posted it on your other post before I saw this one.  If I had a choice I would really refer back to Katy MMH... they were excellant during my loss.  IMO, Dr Schmidt herself was not but that's another story.  I ended up going off a referrel from a nurse I worked with and saw Dr Peterson a few weeks ago.  I'm very comfortable with my decision to move OB's and am glad that I went to see her.  She also practices with Dr Catherine Coroveissis.  They both deliver at either Katy MMH or Christus, your choice.  I had heard excellant things about Dr Coroveissis but had gone to see Dr Schmidt instead by chance.

    Hope that helps.

  • My mom used to go to Dr. Friedman and so did my sister.  I saw him once many years ago (before ttc or having kids) and wasn't too impressed.
My sister went to him during her last pregnancy and ended up switching doctors when she was 6 or 7 months along.  She found him to be very rude and condescending.

I don't know anything about the others.  Sorry!
