One way to get a new Pack N Play...

Rained all day yesterday, flooded our finished basement. Among many other things, pack n play was down there and so when fleeing to my parents for the night, buying a new one was essential for having somewhere for baby to sleep! Not to mention city sewage system failed and backed up into our basement and all our neighbors too. I'm so upset! A ton of our stuff is ruined, including furniture, washer, dryer. I just keep thinking to be grateful its not that bad in light of the recent tornado destruction elsewhere etc. But it still stucks. Shacking up with a 3 mo old in my childhood bedroom while dh cleans up the house will be interesting.

  • Oh, that's terrible news. I am glad that you and your family are okay, but it totally sucks that you loss so much stuff due to flooding. I used to live in Illinois and we had basement floods a couple of times. It's a nightmare to clean. Can you file an insurance claim to help replace the damaged items?

  • Our ins said if it's deemed a flood it won't be covered! But since the city sewage system clearly failed I hope that's enough to get it covered somehow. Such a mess!

  • Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!!  I hope you are able to salvage some of the things, and that insurance comes through for you.  What a mess.

  • A few years ago my home was flooded.. joy of joys I had a basement apt in my parents home.  Our flood insurance would not cover anything until it reached the first floor, sure we'll just sit by while our home floods rather than pump out water..  Fema came and we received some money which we used to redo some of the basement flooring.  Our flood was so bad the water was coming up through the cement flooring, it's now been sealed and I doubt air can get through that floor now.
