DD will be 11 months in a week and a bit so we were wondering if we should transition now, wait until 12 moaths, do it slowly/quickly, etc. DD#1 never took a bottle so the transition isn't the same. I appreciate your input!
Both kiddos were on formula so we were anxious to switch due to the cost factor. We switched Gideon at 11 1/2 months and Eden at 12 months or a little later. We watched for any reaction and there was none, she had also had cheese and yogurt even before the switch so her tummy was used to dairy by that point.
I think we started the switch around 11 months for K and C. I just started switching out formula bottles for milk. I think both were completely on milk by 12 months or just after.
I introduced it around 11-11.5mo. Put some in a cup and gave it to them. They both liked it but didn't love it at first. I still BFd them at 12mo and beyond, but I stopped pumping at 11mo and if they needed something while I was gone they got cow milk. For DD, she never took a bottle either but she was already drinking water from a sippy so there wasn't a cup transition at the same time. With DS, he'll take a cup, but he found some bottles and somehow he got hooked on them... and I still give him a bottle of milk when he's tired and cranky
I started offering cows milk in a sippy at dinner around 11 months. He didn't drink much of it at first but he tried it, got used to it and we made sure he wasn't allergic. He was EBF and got bottles of pumped milk at daycare.
Right at his birthday I switched his daycare bottles for sippy cups of cows milk. (He was already proficient w/ a sippy cup.) The first few days/week I sent bottles too just in case he wouldn't nap without a bottle, but he never needed them. At first he didn't drink as much cows milk as I though he "should" but it slowly increased. I still BF morning and night so I'm not sure what to tell you if you're ready to completely wean.
My big boy is bounding towards 4! Baby brother coming in October!
I started with milk in sippy cup/straw cup at dinner around 11 months. We were on formula at that point so I also started mixing some in his bottles but wasnt really consistent on this.
At one year, I put the bottles away and finished out my formula with formula/milk in cups.
I found that he took the milk better when it was room temp because that's what his formula was. To this day, he doesn't like cold drinks.
We ditched the bottles when we did the tansition. We ONLY put milk in a sippy cup. We started replacing each bottle with a sippy cup of milk. We mixed 1/2 formula, 1/2 milk and first, but I don't think that was necessary. We were in a hurry to ditch bottles. I couldn't have 2 kids on bottles at once! We switch both kids to milk at 10ish months.
