Would this be weird (b-day party related)

I've posted before about being in a bind as far as where to host C's 1st birthday party. The time is coming where I need to make a final decision and put a hold on something.

The guest list is about 40 people, all family and good friends (C will be the only little, little one there).

Would it be totally weird to have the party at my Grandparent's church, in the rec center? It is basically a big open room with carpet and a lot of windows, with a kitchen attached (which would be super helpful in getting all the food assembled and out on the tables).

The only other option I have is a local park. Which even in the shelter areas I worry about stormy weather (late September here is a mess weather wise).

What do you think? Would the church be an odd place to have a 1st birthday party? Anyone have any better ideas? I am STUMPED.

I don't think that would be weird. I have been to parties (family get togethers) at a church. Its just a big room that you can use, so I don't know why not.
    Nothing to see here! :)

Eh, I wouldn't think so. Lots of churches here open up their rec centers to parties and stuff -- and having a kitchen handy is always a plus.

  • Not weird at all!

Thanks ladies! I think I am going to go with this option. It is the best for space and the most convenient for all our guests. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't be totally odd ball!

  • We have just about every get together at my in-laws church.  Even my bridal shower.  So no, I don't think it would be weird.

  • People are here do this all the time. And like Beanie said, it is really convenient.

I don't think that would be weird.  It sounds like it would be convenient with the kitchen area as well.  You can also try a community center if you have any near you.

  • I think that sounds perfectly appropriate.

  • All this 1st birthday talk is making me feel like a failure of a mom... I haven't even thought of anything birthday related yet!

You have double the fun, you have your hands full!

Honestly I just love party planning. I have been thinking about this since she was still in my belleh.

I have just now started putting the pieces together though. I just need to book a location before everything is taken!

  • Glad to hear everyone is safe
