DH and I are having a date afternoon/evening on Sat =)

We rarely do anything alone together because we don't like leaving the children, mostly the baby for a date night. We don't have any helpful family and I just don't love the idea of leaving the baby with a sitter--- it just seems like such a hassle to try to explain bedtime routines and worry she will be able to get the children to sleep-- Idk if a sitter could handle it.

But DH suggested that we go out in the afternoon (after the kids are down for afternoon naps), see a movie and have an early dinner. We will be back in time to put them to bed. Genius! Now I can't wait... just need to decide what movie!

Anyway, I thought I would post in case others are in our position- not ready to leave baby for a date night- and haven't thought of a date afternoon.

We tried going out after bedtime once, and of course it was the one night H decided to wake up :-( He loves his nana, but not so much when mama isn't around. I'm sure your boys will be just fine! Have fun you two!

Awesome! Have a great time! We all need some alone with DH time & need to remember to take it, even if we have to get creative about what the kiddos will do while we're out. But I totally hear you on the sitter thing, I don't feel comfortable leaving the kids with one either.

DH & I have a date this Saturday evening. Monday is his birthday, so my parents are watching the kids for a few hours so we can go to dinner & see a movie. It won't be an afternoon date & we'll pick the kids up at my parents house after their bedtime, but luckily they're really adaptable & it won't mess up their schedules for days or anything.

Anyway, I think we're going to see Bridesmaids. I've heard it's funny & I could use a good zone out & laugh kinda movie!

That's an awesome idea - unfortunately, DH works very other weekend, and plays softball on the weekends when he's not working, so his idea of a date afternoon is him playing ball, and me watching.

Maybe in between seasons!!

Thanks ladies! DH is thinking Bridesmaids now because of a review(s) he read. I'm pretty flexible. I haven't been to a movie in over a year and I am sure I will enjoy anything!

Glasgow- Hope you can get your DH off the field and on a date and yeah, matinee px will be nice.

We have been doing morning/afternoon dates maybe once a month since DD was born and it's been great!!! We are going out for Valentine's day with some friends so that will be interesting but my sitters are amazing so I'm not too worried. Have an amazing date!!!!
