OBGYN who delivers at B-North?

Hello, ladies!

Sorry to nudge in with a random question ? I hope that you don?t mind! I've been more of a lurker than a poster the last few years. I'd like to pick your brains regarding doctors who deliver at B-North.

I need to switch OBGYN practices, and I?m thinking that as long as I?m switching, I might as well switch to a practice I?ll want to stick with if I become pregnant. My RE recommended Lisa Gennari, and I?ve heard great things about her, but our insurance doesn?t cover her. He also recommended Elizabeth Ruchhoft, but I?ve heard mixed things about her so far....

Opinions? Anyone else you?d recommend? (My past practices have included For Women and Group Health Associates, and I?d prefer to not go back to either.)

TIA for anything you?re willing to share - It will be greatly appreciated J.

  • I switched over to Cindy Hansel at Crescent Women's Medical Group based on someone else's recommendation from thenest. I really like her and think she'll be a good partner as we move forward in TTC. I don't know if she delivers at Bethesda North tho...

  • I know you said you'd prefer not to return to GHA but I always went with Dr. Buckley.  I'm just now thinking of switching but it's only because he doesn't practice near my house anymore and I don't feel like driving 45 minutes away for apts.

  • I see Kacey Kersting with Associates in OB/GYN, I can only rave rave rave about my experience with her...she was beyond fantastic :)

  • I see Dr. Froehlich who's in a solo practice in Montgomery.  I can't say enough good things about him.  He's an amazing doctor!
  • I switched from For Women to Crescent Women's Medical Group. I've seen Drs. Hansel and Gravely and midwife Rhonda Whitten. I've been much happier with the care I've received so far than I was during my last pregnancy. I saw Dr. Hansel for my annual appt. last year when I wasn't pregnant and loved her. the practice delivers at B North. I will say that I saw Dr. Ruchhoft at For Women and I also had mixed feelings at times. I haven't seen her yet at the new practice, though. I think the fact that she switched practices is a good sign, or at least I hope so.

  • I also switched to Crescent Women's based on recommendations here.  I was very happy with my care during my pregnancy, they are on call on a rotating basis, so any of them could be the one to deliver.  Whoever you see at your first appointment will be your primary, but they will make you see all of them during any pregnancy.  Dr. Ruchoft delivered DS#2 and she was great.  I also had mixed feelings when I was pregnant, but during delivery she was wonderful.  I had epidural issues that anesthesia was going to give up trying to fix, and she stood up for me and made sure they did.  But I saw her from my 6 week check up and she told me she wasn't "doing the baby part anymore"  She made it sound like she was actually leaving Cresent Womens and opening her own practice for GYN only...that's the way I took it, but I'm not 100% sure.  But the rest of the practice is good as well

I too have seen Associates in OB/GYN for years, and they primarily deliver at B-North.  I believe they'll deliver at Good Sam if there's a good reason for it (need for Level 2 NICU, etc...)

Anyway, I've been very happy with my care.  I saw Dr. Altman for years, Jackie and Kacey were fantastic through my pregnancy, and Dr. Sosnowski delivered DS.  Be aware that they are a large practice.  If you're thinking about switching, that's something worth thinking about... there are pros and cons to large practice vs. small (or very small).  Dr. Froelich also gets rave reviews and he's been practicing for a long time.

    GL in your decision!

  • I LOVE the Crescent Womens Group. Cindy Hansel is my primary, but I have also seen Rhonda (one of the midwives). They deliver at Bethesda North and are on a rotating basis (as pp said). I do know that Ruchoft is leaving in the fall, so no worries about her. They have been absolutely amazing with  me & my TTC/IF issues over the past 2 years, super supportive. I would highly recommend them!!

  • I go to Northest Center for Womens Health right down the road from B North. I see Dr Condorodois but all three doctors (Fackler & Sullivan) are AWESOME! i switched when I got pregnant and I was hesitant, but I LOVE them!

  • I am seeing Dr. Bowen/Dr. Wall now and love the group.  They deliver at BNorth or Mercy Fairfield.  They are very supportive of natural childbirth (or any other option you choose) and I have been so happy with them.

  • How long ago was your last experience with GHA? I had a few complications through my pregnancy and they were fabulous. I've seen Dr. Buckley, Dr. Lewis (my primary and who delivered Brynn), Dr. Badawai and Dr. Samol. Now I'm not a fan of Dr. Badawai just because her bedside manner kind of sucks but the other three are great. I truely feel I got great care through my pregnancy and delivery.

  • I switch based on Jersey's recommendation to Cindy Hansel too!  She is wonderful!  I have seen everyone at the practice now and they are all great.  Rouchhoft is def hot and cold.  My first time I met her I wasn't sure about her but the last two appts I had with her she was great!  I dont think u can go wrong with anyone at Crescent womens!

I will second the rec. for Dr. Bowen. The entire staff there is absolutely wonderful. I am receiving better care dealing with my PCOS with him than I did at my RE. I've seen Michelle, the nurse practitioner, as well as Dr. Bowen. I had to go in for an appointment last week to review blood work and to get an ultrasound run to see how the cysts on my ovaries were. Dr. Bowen took about an hour going over each bit of the ultrasound, showing me what was what. And then he spent a while going over what I need to be doing for my PCOS, what I need to be keeping track of on my end so that we can get pregnant soon, what our course of action is, etc.
