VBAC

yet another vbac success!

Glad to see so many successes on here today! I'm another small mama, and that includes my pelvis. The OB was very concerned that my pelvis truly wasn't big enough (and he is probably the #1 pro-VBAC OB around here). Thankfully we got through it and it all worked out! Here's the story:

Tyler Paul was born Tuesday, May 24 at 1:59am. I started early labor on Sunday night and went to the hospital at 6pm Monday. I was 6cm and finished dilating without meds around 11pm. He was in OP/OT position despite several position changes and movement throughout labor. The pushing became very painful for me after an hour, especially in my legs (not like sore/tired, but extreme pain in my back, hips, and thighs). He was very close to being born, so we did not want to do an epidural, but I needed something to regain the ability to push. I got a small intrathecal dose of fentanyl, which dulled the pain but still allowed me to stand, change positions, and feel the urge to push. I had hoped to go completely drug-free, but I do not regret getting it because I honestly did not feel I could push through one more contraction. At some point he did turn OA, and then came out a little too fast because I have a 3rd degree tear. Other than that we are both completely healthy and already home. Tyler was 7lb 15oz, over a pound bigger than my first!

Good luck to everyone else attempting a VBAC soon and congrats to the other new mamas!
