cycle cancelled

RE called today to tell me he highly advised cancelling this cycle. My estrogen levels went from over 200 to over 900. And with the number of follicles that I had, the likelyhood of multilpes was great.

Today was CD 8.

Does anyone know what is normal for estrogen levels around this stage of my cycle....I forgot to ask, since I was upset.

I am an IUI virgin so I can't offer any advice, but I did want to say that I am sorry your cycle got cancelled.

Although I have done IUI's because it was so long ago in my TTC journey I don't quite remember what normal was for E2 levels..I'm sorry I am no help but I did want to say I am so sorry that your cycle was cancelled. That's always so tough! Hang in there hun. (((HUGS)))

When we did IUI, the RE never told me my estrogen levels (I also never asked), so I am not help. However I did want to give you my ((((hugs))) and thoughts. It sucks to have a cycle canceled. HOpefully they can figure out the problem for the next one.

how many follicles do have?

Sorry your cycle was cancelled. With an e2 of 900, you probably have 4, maybe 5 mature follicles. I usually have an e2 of around 275 for each mature follicle and have had IUI's with 3 follicles and an e2 of 900, so you must have more follicles that are nearing maturity that your RE isn't comfortable with. Again, sorry!!

I'm so sorry your cycle was cancelled. I almost had my very first one cancelled as well and I remember the frustration and sadness I felt while waiting for that call. My situation was much worse than yours so I'll tell you what happened with me...I failed to respond to the Menopur at first and then when they upp'd my dosage, my estrogen went gangbusters. At the end when we were ready to trigger, I was at 3000! Can you imagine?! I also had 3 mature follies, 28 small and medium sized on the right and 19 or so of the same on the left. My RE approved me to go forward (after taking all day to make his decision) and only because I had 3 matures. Any more and I would have been cancelled immediately. Because of the high estrogen, I have a mild case of OHSS, which is MISERABLE on a good day. I'm 8dpiui and the OHSS is still kickin'. I'm happy we went forward even though I'm pretty pessimistic about the results I'll get next week at beta but I won't deny how horrible I feel, which sucks. How many mature follies did you have? Your E level doesn't sound like it's enough of a reason to cancel (this is only from my experience and talking at length with my RE.)

P.S. I know it's easy for me to say but when I was facing this possibility, I just kept thinking and taking comfort in the fact that the doctor knows best and will always put my welfare and safety and health first whereas, I will always put it last behind the possibility of life within. That's part of what defines us as future mothers and I hope that one day, all the ladies on this board, including myself, will be.

I am sorry:( How many follies did you have? I am no expert, but 900 does sound really high for CD 8 of an IUI cycle.

To be honest... I do not know how many mature follicles there was. My RE was not available at the office yesterday for the monitoring, the tech who did my ultrasound said that there was about 15 medium sized follicles on both sides. And when I did actually get to speak with my nurse about it, I was just so frustrated b/c of the voicemails, that I didn't even think about asking.

Sorry to hear! In february I did IUI and my cycle was cancelled as well after doing Follistim and Monepur shots for 6 or 7 days. My E2 level got all the way to almost 2,000 and I produced 18 follies!! Definitely was showing hyperstim signs and too much of a risk for multiples so they pulled the plug! was VERY discouraging but now that they know how your body reacts to the meds they should be smarter w/ your next round!
