I think Rian is a boys name/spelling...of course you can name your girl it too...anyone can take any name and name a girl or boy it, but she will get teased in school that her name is Ryan(cause that is how its pronounced)...what if she has boys in her class named Ryan? Just because it is spelled with and I does not make it a different name...Ryan is Ryan is Rian is Rian. Give her a name she can use in womanhood. Rian is not one of them.
This breaks two cardinal rules of baby-naming: giving a girl a boy's name and misspelling a name. If you plan on naming a girl Ryan, at least spell it correctly and don't try to "feminize" it.
LOVE Ryan for a girls name...it's on our short list. We prefer the normal spelling of Ryan, but both are okay. I know a girl named Ryan and have loved it as a girl name ever since.
Ryan isn't just a boy name, it's been in the top 20 as a boy name for decades. I went to school with about a zillion boys named Ryan and cannot comprehend why it's being appropriated as a girl's name. I don't think Rian makes it more feminine, it just makes it even more of a PITA for your future DD to explain to people.

If you have to specify "for a girl," imagine what a PITA it will be for your daughter.
My husband hates it when girls are names Ryan...because that's his name. I agree with him. Ryan is a boys name. It wouldn't make for a pretty girl name.
Spell it like a boys name then give her a super feminine middle name
There are some boy names that I absolutely do not like as girl names but I think Ryan/Rian is a nice name for a girl. I agree with the feminine middle name to go along with the "boy" name!

I love Ryan for a girl. I don't really care for Rian. If you want to make it 'different' I agree with spelling it Ryann. I would also but it with a longer feminine name like Elizabeth. .
I went to school with a girl named Rian. She was, and still is, one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen.
However, unless your kid grows up to be the high school prom queen/most gorgeous girl (which Rian actually did, ha!), is naming her a "boy's" name a good idea?
I have known a girl with the regular Ryan spelling. She was Ryan Mary. It's NMS, but if you are going to do it- I wouldnt misspell it. I don't know that I would pronounce Rian- Ryan... and people may think it's a misspelling of Rain.

Are you THAT disappointed you're having a girl that you have to give her a boy's name.
Ryan, whichever way you choose to spell it, is a BOY'S name. Choose a girl's name for your baby GIRL.
