ARGH! NIFR

So, I got a bill in the mail today for an apartment complex I lived in over 2 years ago...As a matter of fact the apartment isn't owed by the same people, and has a different name...  anyway the bill is from a collection agency saying I owe 1,000...  

So, I call the collections agency (after calling my sister that is an attorney) to ask what the bill was for...  So it was for damages... Fine whatev... I lived their over 10 years (I could see that), I had 2 dogs, many parties...lol  But, I was furious-no one contacted me,I just get this bill from the collections agency...saying I had 30 days to pay it.  I ask the creditor guy if I could make payments and he says, yeah, but it will negatively effect your credit after 3 months, so I say fine- and he says you can settle for 850.00 tonight...

 I say fine... and settle it out...

 Now I feel like a 1) chump 2) poor because I was gonna use the money for IF expenses 3) sad, and bullied, because my sis says their may be a law that says that they have  a certain time to contact you with debts(she didn't know off hand cause she does family law)

 

I am really feeling like I want to contact the attorney general's office to see if I can get my money back... : (

I mean in 10 years?  The place ain't gonna be pristine.

    That really sucks!!!!! I hope you can somehow get your money back!

    As if we don't have enough trouble right?!?!?! I hate when unexpected expenses come rolling in out of nowhere!!! Angry

    I'm so sorry this happened to you!

    Maybe eat a pint of Ben & Jerrys and watch a movie?!?! That always makes me feel better! (I know i'm not any good at advice!!! Then I wonder WHY I can't lose any weight!!!!) LOL!
