T&P's please...a little worried

So I got a call tonight at 6:30 from my ob asking me to make an appt. to go to the hospital where I will deliver to the fetal testing unit- for a sonogram because the baby's head seems to be measuring slightly small.

I was last at the dr. 2 weeks ago and everything appeared to be "normal" and right on track according to the tech.  I'm startled at why he would be calling me 2 weeks later and saying just want to be sure...does it really take 2 weeks to check measurements? Also, wouldn't the tech have said something that day?

Anyhow, maybe i'm totally over analyzing the whole situation and the motherly "worry" instinct has already set in, but I just can't understand why all along everything is "right on" and now all the sudden I get a call asking me to do another one.  Just seems strange to me.

Anyone else's LO's head measuring small for their due date?  Should I stop worrying?

Thanks!Embarrassed

  • T & P! I am sure if it took to weeks to call there is not a real emergency. Stay positive. I think I have seen this on the boards before. Maybe try a search on the bump, and you will probably see soemthing. Keep up posted! Hugs!

  • Good thoughts and prayers coming your way!  I hope everything is fine with your baby.
  • Im thinking positive thoughts for you. I have to agree with previous person about the fact that it cant be too bad if it took them a few weeks to call about it. I have a friend who's baby had something similar. The head didnt measure small but too big. It turned out to be nothing at all.
  • I wish I could tell you to stop worrying, but I'm sure that's not possible.  My doc did some measurements on me this week and he had a hard time getting a real accurate weight/size because of how the baby was laying.  I would try not to stress too much because it's very possible the tech didn't have a great angle on the baby to get a good measurement.  I agree that I would be furious with the doc for not following up sooner.  It seems the doc would have received the reports sooner than 2 weeks later, but try not to worry, as you've seen those machines are pretty tricky and it all depends on the baby's positioning. You will be in my prayers.
