Question about due date

Hi!  I just took a test last night and it was positive!  So excited for baby #2!  I'm having a hard time figuring out my due date and would LOVE some help.  The first day of my last period was April 23rd but I used the ovulation test kits this month as well and the tests showed that I either ovulated on May 10 or 11th.  Do I go by the day I ovulated or the first day of my last period?  If I go by the 1st day of my last period the due date is Jan. 27th but if I go by my ovulation my due date would be Jan. 31 or February 1st.  What do you guys think?  Thanks so much!

  • I read somewhere that the day you ovulated is a better date to use but most women dont know that so they use the first day of your last period.  I think your doc will use the first day of your last period, untill they do an u/s for dating. (if they do that where you go, some places dont)

Ovulation date is more accurate but your doctor will probably use your lmp.  I charted so I'm using my ovulation date.

  • Okay thanks!  I've told a few family members and one of the first questions they ask is "when are you due"?  So this helps a lot!

Your doctor will go by the last day of your mentrual period - unless your u/s shows otherwise.

    Congrats!

  • My doctor always goes by the date of my positive opk and not my lmp because I have longer cycles. I've done this for my last pregnancy and this one as well and the u/s has always confirmed the date that I calculated using my opk dates. I think it depends on the doctor .. yours may go by your lmp and then change the date once you have a dating u/s since it will likely match up to when you ovulated according to opks. I'd just tell everybody the later date since that's likely more accurate.

  • Your ovulation date will be the accurate date. LMP only works if you have a 28 day cycle and ovulate on day 14. As PP stated, your Doc will probably go by your LMP but when you get your first u/s you will see that your ovulation date was more accurate.
