Hailey has a "right hip click"?

At the hospital the pediatrician told us they that Hailey had a "right hip click". She says sometimes it fixes itself in the first few days and that she would check it at her 1 week appointment. So it got checked yesterday and it's still there. So now we have to go get an ultrasound for her hip. Has anyone else heard of this or have any experience with it?

    I recently attended a seminar at a children's orthopedic hospital on what they might be screening for. They are likely going to do an ultrasound to rule out DDH (Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip) It is where the hip joint is not properly aligned. If this is the case with your LO she will have to wear a Pavlik harness to keep the hip in place and help it to grow and heal where it should. This harness is to be worn 23 hours of the day for the first 6 months of life. The good news is with early diagnosis and intervention this condition can heal and resolve nicely. Hopefully you get more answers after the sonogram. HTH

    DD had a hip click at birth & it remained until her 6 mth appt. when it just went away. She is perfectly fine/healthy.  Our doc said that often it is just the ligament moving over the bone as it was in my DD's case.

    DS also had one at birth but it resolved by the 1 wk appt.

    My daughter has a left hip click so we also need to go for an ultrasound (we are going Wednesday).  I was told the same as above, this is to ensure the femur is in proper alignment with the hip.
