Is there an exclusion for siblings? My hospital will not allow anyone under the age of 14 on L&D, the only exception is siblings of the baby. But we don't have to fill out any paperwork for siblings to visit.
I'm not entirely certain about my hospital's exact policy, but I do remember seeing something about young children not being allowed in L&D/recovery. They are concerned about the illnesses children might bring with them, I think? I could be completely wrong. I didn't pay much attention to it because I don't know anyone with young children that will be coming to visit while we are there...
Nope. With DD they only asked that if the child had been around anyone sick or was recently sick/or still sick they stay away. Then our NICU said no family under 18 was allowed unless they were the new big brother or sister and like L&D anyone that came had to sign a wavier saying that had not been sick recently or been around anyone.
My hosptial must not have that policy as 5 years ago when DD was 6 months old I took her to L&D when my SIL was there. Seeing that was 5 years ago, policies may have changed, I better check into it. Thanks for the heads up.

I've heard of a lot of hospitals not letting children into L&D unless they are siblings of the new baby. I haven't heard of signing a waiver, but I guess it makes sense.

I haven't had any issues in at the hospital I deliver at, but the hospital in my hometown only allows sibling. No exceptions siblings only year round. It made it very difficult when I drove 1.5 hours to see my new niece and then my mom sat with DD in the lobby.
I understand being careful of germs during flu season, but it was the middle of July.

I believe it is for anyone other then siblings. Unfortunately we have 3 children in our family 1 niece who is 13, 1 nephew who is 5 and our godson will be 9 months

My siblings weren't supposed to be allowed to visit when DS was born. Only children that were allowed were supposed to be my own children. We ending up sneaking them in for a little (not really sneaking...just not asking for permission.)
Re: Written permission for children under 14 in L&D?
Nope. It was on the paperwork they gave us when we reregistered ( after my car accident )
I am going to call to inquire more about it and make sure I know exactly what to do.
