I bought DD a new pair of dark, stone-washed jeans and washed then with all her other clothes. Since her launrdy amounts to so little, I just wash everything together on cold. So, when I pulled everything out of the wash there is a blue tinge to everything and spots of blue on lots of things. I haven't put things in the dryer yet, is there anything I can do to salvage this mess?
Re: Potentially ruined all of DD's clothes
I've done this to my own clothes before. Like PP said wash them again right away in cold and then I did another wash cycle with a soak with Oxiclean (I use free or baby even on my stuff) and then I would hang everything to dry until you make sure all of the spots are gone. You can soak anything seperately that the blue didn't wash off of.
Good luck! I know how irritating it is!
Keep washing and whatever you do keep thing out of the dryer so you dont set the stains!
Good luck to you---i have gotten MANY a melted-chapstick out of my whites this way!
For future reference, I'm a quilter and red and dark blue are both notorious for bleeding. I buy the Shout Color Catcher sheets and throw a few in when I'm washing a quilt with new fabrics (I don't prewash my fabrics). They do a great job preventing bleeding. I also use them in regular laundry when washing a new dark item that looks like it may bleed.
To get it out now, like PP have said I'd put stain sticks/treatment on the clothes that were bled on, and wash without the jeans again.
