So late night we were at a car club meeting and people were asking DH how things are going for HIM in the pregnancy (ok - I laughed pretty hard about that) and he starts spouting off the things he read in the pregnancy magazine at the doctor's office that day. "Testicals are descending, he's about 5 pounds, sucking his thumb, hiccupping" etc etc
The couple then asked him if he's excited for the birth and his reply was "oh - I'm not going to be there - we're taking child birth classes and I'm just waiting to see who does the best then I'll ask THEM to come and help..."
He was joking but I was laughing so hard!
Re: s/o doulas...funny thing DH said...
Like so many other things, my exDH set the bar *SO LOW* on this one - he was Team Contraction Monitor - cheering for the machine to show higher numbers!! He did not make the connection between the numbers and MY pain level. And he was focused on the one task that was "all his" - he was focused on catching the baby. Not me. Just that he wanted to be the hero...eye roll.
So - compared to THAT - my DH will be nothing less than a rock star. (he is going to be grossed out...he's told me that over and over again. I'll be curious how he reacts to all the "stuff" in light of his child being born - if that fact completely washes away the "gross factor")
I'm not going with a Doula - I'm going to spend that money on more maternity leave...
