So nervous I feel nauseous

I begin work on Tuesday 5/31. UGHHHH. As if that weren't nerve racking enough. My LO has decided she no longer wants to even look at a bottle. She has practiced bottle feeding but on Monday when I tried again she screamed bloody murder. DH tried last night and again she refused it.

There's so much going on in my mind right now. I'm scared that she won't eat while I'm at work. I've tried different bottles and nipples.   I need prayers,  advice, anything.

Re: So nervous I feel nauseous

  • My LO decided to go on a bottle strike right before I went back to work. If you haven't tried them, Breastflow bottles worked best for us. But I was also afraid she wouldn't eat all day and then reverse cycle and have me up all night nursing her. Instead, since I truly wasn't there, she settled for the bottle and took them with only a little fuss. She'd eat half, take a half hour break to fuss, and then finish the bottle.3 weeks later she takes them like a champ, and I also credit those Breastflow bottles for allowing us to switch back and forth between bottle and BF so easily. So, I hope that gives you some hope. They won't starve themselves, and so she'll take it when she has to. Good luck!

  • I'm told that some mamas have to be out of the house so that LO wont smell them in order to take a bottle from someone else.  Im sure while you're gone she'll do ok again :-}

  • Have you tried the Breastflow bottle? It's pretty unique- more like the breast than any other bottle IMO. GL!

  • I think I wrote this same post 4 weeks ago.  Smile  I was super nervous about it, but as PP said above, they won't starve themselves.  Once you are out of the house and they have no other option, they'll eat.  Also, we use BreastFlow as well!  They are the only bottles she would even tolerate in her mouth, although she didn't really eat out of them until my first day at work.  And the first day, she ate 3.5 ounces the whole day.  But now she drinks 4 ounces at a time without protest (according to her daycare...I still have never seen her take a bottle).

  • Thank you all.  I have 3 more days before I start work. I'm not as nervous right now probably because I"m focusing on trying to get her to use that stinking bottle.  Your words have helped.  :)
