Successful vbac and hope for all those tiny mama's out there!

My baby boy Titus Joshua was born last Friday, May 20th at 5:47 am. We had no idea about his size and when he came out the entire room gasped. He was a whopping 9 lbs 3 oz and he came out of his 5'1, 115, size 3 mama! The midwife said it had nothing to do with the width of my hips but the space within my pelvis and according to her I have a beautiful pelvis ;-)

I went into labor on my own fast and furious at about 8 pm Thursday night and arrived screaming and at 5 cm at 9:30. Water broke at 1:00 pm, complete by 1:30 but labored down until about 4 am. I pushed for 1 hour and 45 minutes and I have a 2nd degree tear that is already feeling much better. I'm so thankful for this experience. The recovery has been sooooo much easier and nothing can beat holding him right away and nursing him within minutes of his birth.

Good luck ladies!image

  • Well done & congratulations!

I have exactly the same proportions as you so your story gives a lot of hope!

    Enjoy your new cutie Smile

  • Congratulations!!!  That's very exciting and encouraging.

Funny on the pelvis comment.  An OB/GYN told a friend of mine that she had a textbook perfect cervix and vagina.  On a rainy day, when you're feeling bad, at least you know you have a beautiful pelvis :- )

Good to hear that size doesn't matter, for VBAC anyway Stick out tongue  I'm debating on whether or not to VBAC.  My main fear is the size.  DS was 9+ and this one is measuring large.

I thought it was a hysterical compliment. I was also told that I have an amazing uterus after carrying my twins and vbacing such a big boy :)

  • Yay! Congrats, it's an awesome feeling, especially when they're big, hee. My VBAC baby was 10lb 10oz, but I'm nine inches taller than you ;).

    DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)

  • Congratulations! I am so glad to hear they let you labor down for so long.  That was my problem with DS, I started pushing WAY before he was ready to come and wasted tons and tons of energy with no urge to push--and quickly met their time limit for pushing.  I plan to WAIT until I feel like pushing when going for my VBAC.  Thanks so much for sharing.

BIg Congrats on your Big Baby Boy:)  This gives me hope, I have big babies and really would like to VBA2C this time.  My DD was 9lbs 6oz so here's hoping I'm just as successful as you were!
