Round ligament pain..or cyst? kind of scared... :(

Wow, I woke up SO sore and achey today in my pelvic region...its on both sides like (ovary area) but more so on the right..sort of achey/dull/sore and a little...burning. It honestly feels like round ligament/cyst pain so I'm really hoping its JUST round ligament pain. I had polycystic ovaries feb-early april we think ( I say we THINK b/c my doctor didnt see me at all after my initial u/s which showed polycystic ovaries..

But I did get pg so...I'm hoping there arent any cysts in there at all...but I'm wondering if I should just call my doctors office just incase? Just to ease my mind...? My doctor is (of course) out of town again...but anyone will do..I just hope everything is okay..I'm not spotting or anything...so..I'm not sure what to do. I know if I call and say I am achey or cramping they'll just tell me its "normal" but...I just havent felt this before (in my pregnancy)...

  • Like Andie said, you won't know until you get an u/s and they check.

I know I have a fairly large one of my left ovary from where a follie didn't release an egg. My RE said it's nothing to be very concerned about since the cyst is currently helping to "feed" the pregnancy. The pains I feel from it are similar to a stretching or pinching feeling.

HTH! Try not to be worried! Easier said than done, I know! :)

  • Definitely call your doc if it will make you feel better. That's what they are there for. :)

And funny you should say, because as of this morning, I'm having the exact same type of pain! And if I turn to one side (especially my right) then I get a sharper pain. One of my closest friends just had a baby and she said that is exactly what she had and it was ligament pain. So I think that is what we have as well. :)

  • Just echoing the PP's here, but only the ultrasound will confirm. I have never had a cyst and my OB found one Monday at my first ultrasound. It will have to be monitored and I am not one who has had cysts in the past. (Ive had ultrasounds of the abdomen for other reasons in the past year so the area has been checked out before). These cysts typically shrink once the placenta begins to take over. You will not know until the ultrasound. Many days I have had a dull ache and I thought it was pg related, apparently its the cyst. My doctor isn't too worried and we just need to make sure it doesn't grow and I need to go back in two weeks.. Like I said I was completely surprised when it came up on the screen. Dont stress too much and don't google.
