I recently read/heard that KY and other such lubes are BAD when TTC?  Any thoughts?  Any, more natural suggestions that don't require a fridge in my bedroom (i.e. cracking eggs etc)??

    preseed (go to their website to find place to buy it) or preconceive (which you can get at CVS.)

    I'm pretty sure ky is ok, just not the novelty ones that have scents and flavors and whatnot. And hold up. Are you talking about using an egg for lube? Please say no. Ick!

    no KY, but you can buy preseed (i bought mine from Amazon) it is a sprem friendly lube. 

    and i don't know anything about cracking eggs, what are you talking about??

    Some people have gotten BFP while using KY, but other studies have shown that KY can harm sperms motility and others can kill them. You can try Pre Seed or Pre Conceive as neither of those harm their motility and they don't kill them.

    I heard the same thing. Egg whites and olive oil (if you don't mind your bedroom smelling like The Olive Garden) seem to be safe. Check out Preseed...you can find it on amazon.com and works just fine. Good luck!

    Isn't KY oil-based?  I would not use that while TTC (at least not on fertile days).  I second (or third or whatever) PreSeed.

    KY is not okay. Niether is Astroglide or any silicone lube. Preseed or Preconceive is the way to go! Eww no egg whites. We don't want the vag to get infected.

    I have heard some pretty weird things that supposedly help you conceive....but cracking eggs?  Is it just the cracking or are you supposed to do something with the shells or the eggs inside?  Hardboiled or raw??Stick out tongue

    VERY SERIOUSLY....a home remedies book said to use egg white (but to ensure that the egg "was refrigerated prior to use to avoid contamination"). Craziness....not to mention not very romantic.  I am looking to see if they sell Preseed in Canada.  Thanks for the heads up.

    Huh, I did not know that.  I am getting schooled on all fronts tonight.  I always thought it was like vaseline or something.  :)  I feel like I also read that saliva isn't great for sperm either, so maybe it's more than just the water/oil issue.  Perhaps sperm are very particular about which liquids they like to swim in?

    No baking in the bedroom please... Ky is NOT safe because it is not water based and water soluble, it harms the sperm and does not allow them to swim freely.

    I am in total agreement.  When I read that about using a freaking egg I showed DH and he responded with "WTF...I'll take my chances!"  mmmmm garden salad in bed...NASTY!

    if you go to preseed.com (granted, they are trying to sell their product) it will tell you all about why things like KY and saliva aren't good for sperm.

    Ok, I am not trying to be a smart ass here, but I have been using KY for years, and it IS water based. I have a tube right here. WATER. So, unless anyone can tell me why it's not ok, I don't see what you're all talking about.

    Yeah, I get that, that's why I said as long as it isn't the novelty flavored or scented kind, like KY Yours&Mine. Regular KY is water based.

    This is funny.  We are going to have women all over picking up their bottles of lube and reading the labels. I checked the PreSeed website under "the problem".  They are suggesting that many common lubricants are potential harmful on the basis of pH levels and sperm motility.

    I am not doubting the water based KY, my RE and Gyn told me not to use it when trying to conieve. As well as no astroglide, Wet or tickleme (random local brand). they recommend preseed or preconceive..which I never tried until the ladies here recommeneded it.

    TCOYF talks about this - both not to use KY and that it's ok to use eggwhite (although I would ask my doctor about the latter before doing this, just to make sure).

    So i just asked DH, if he would have sexx with my if I put eggs in my vagina...

    He said...WTF????

    So I repeated the question and he said hello no I do not want to be part of making a scrabbled baby.  He said over easy is his style..

    I've also read (Fertility Friend and TCOYF) that you should only use products like Preseed if you really need them. The product won't help if you have enough lubrication and fertile CM on your own.

    And I think it is a Ph issue, not a water vs. oil issue. (Which is why saliva is bad.)
