My WORD! I have gained 10 pounds in the last 4 weeks! I weighed myself this morning so I would know what to expect at my appt this afternoon and in all, I have gained 25 pounds!?! That was my goal of what not to exceed from the start. I really thought I was watching it, eating healthy - carrots, fruit, etc. Maybe I'm eating too many carbs? I'm afraid of what my doctor will say this afternoon - probably nothing, but I really don't want to gain but ten more! Is that even possible? I definitely don't want to go over 40 pounds. Sheesh...time to cut it back a bit!
Re: Dr. Appt today & my weight gain!
I had my appointment yesterday and I had gained another 4lbs which has brought my weight gain to 13lbs in less than 4 months! I am kind of freaking out too.. I lost 60lbs prior to getting pregnant and freaking out that I will be a whale by November at this rate. I have thought I was eating well but I think it is time to start watching things a little more closely. My doctor hasn't said anything about my weight gain but I think that is because I always beat him to the punch.. ha ha ha.. I just keep telling myself that I need to eat right and accept that weight gain is part of pregnancy and that I need to MOVE a little more and get a little light exercise back in my routine.
So as much as I would like to say don't worry about the weight gain I can't because that would make me a hipocrate! :-)
I'm sure everyone is different. I've read about women who gain 50-60 pounds total and have no problem losing it. If you're eating healthy and gaining weight on good foods, I wouldn't worry about it. My OB said I could gain 35-40 and have also already gained 25. But I'm eating right so she's not worried about it. It's all in my belly too so I'm not worried about it either.
Just don't not eat anymore bc you feel like you're gaining too much, lol. Everyone's different so you can't really compare. Just know you're not the only one
I know how you feel. I had gained 12 pounds by week 16! I will be weighed again next week at my 24-week appt. I've been trying to watch my portion sizes and eat snacks every few hours to keep my metabolism up, as well as do the elliptical for about 30-40 minutes 4 days a week. My doc wasn't concerned at all at my last appointment- I was the one concerned!
One thing to remember is that you aren't gaining all fat- lots of the weight is water retention, extra blood, and a bunch of other things. Sometimes you can eat super healthy and still gain a lot of weight- every body is different. That's what I keep telling myself anyway!
I'm probably on the 40 pound train with you- and my goal was about 30. You aren't alone! Good luck- just keep reminding yourself that some weight gain is good and necessary for your baby!!
Don't worry, with my first I gained 50 and my dr kept telling me that I was going to need a c-section because of the weight gain. She was totally wrong, all was fine, and I ended up losing 60 lbs after she was born.
I also heard the other day Kelly Ripa gained 70 lbs with all 3!
When I was pregnant with DS I would have a month where I gained 10 pounds and then the next month I would gain only 1-2 pounds. It really varies, so don't freak out over one month's gain. Also, I gained about 45 pounds total and lost 90% of it by 8 weeks and all of it by 5 months post. I was 15 pounds under my prepregnancy weight by 7 months post. I didn't start workign out until 5 months post, but then I hit it hard and kept a strict eye on my diet. I know girls who gained 20 who are still holding on to the last 10 pounds over a year later. So, just do what your body needs and please don't stress! Gaining more does not always mean you will hold on to more after birth or have a hard time losing it. I totally stressed over my first pregnancy and now I know that was silly becuase my body just works that way.

Everyone is different. If you want to figure out what is the right weight-gain for you I would actually call your mother and your grandmother on your father's side. These are the people that will give you the biggest clues as to how your body will react throughout the pregnancy.
